A question for everyone: do you all download your audiobooks?

Since I have been using the Audible app I haven't bothered to download the books to iTunes since they take up so much space (plus..iTunes..).

I wonder now if I should really download them to back them up as insurance against losing them. Thinking of Fictionwise, Booksonboard etc.

I do not. I figure Audible's not going anywhere and I always listen to my Audible books with the app, so there doesn't seem much point.

Just remember, CDs degrade rather quickly. I have had them degrade to be unplayable in a years time. I totally understand the convenience though, I wish they were more reliable.

Same here. Never had a successfully burned CD fail unless it was physically abused. I still have disks I burned near the dawn of the technology.

Yup, dropped in my back up copy of the old version of Audio Book Cutter this morning. No go. I guess it's 2 years old. Sooo glad I have it backed up on my server!

Me too, both music and data CDs. I recently went through a pile of pretty old CDs to weed out duplicates and things I no longer needed, and everything still seemed fine unless the CD was visibly scratched or damaged.

Yeah, seems like it's best to have more than one backup. I don't rely only on CDs; I also back up to an external hard drive, just in case.
