That said, I also love those little miniature hardbound classics that B&N used to sell. (maybe still do) |

Not so convenient for PDF files, but I find swiping to be better than tapping or buttons for ePubs. Simply put, buttons are inflexible. You're kinda stuck with where the developer put them, which means using a particular hand or both hands. Tap zones are a bit more convenient, but face a similar problem. (Kobo does allow for several configurations, but it can be a bit of a reach.) Swipes though, they work where ever your hands are. It may be an issue if your thumbs aren't as nimble as they could be, but other than that I can't see a problem.

Although I'm seriously tempted by the improved specs, I may defer purchasing the new Paperwhite. I find hyphenation to be distracting, especially when there are multiple consecutive lines hyphenated,or when a word starts at the bottom of one screen and ends at the top of the next. I've confirmed with Amazon there is currently no option to override hyphens. Although they indicated they would have their programmers look into offering an option to avoid hyphenation, it may be a while until that option is offered, if ever. So at least for now, I'll probably stick with my PW2, although I would enjoy the higher resolution and increased storage space on the new PW.

The Voyage going to get the new font and typesetting with an update? Would stink if it doesn't.

What needs to be modified in a Kindle eBook in order to take advantage of the PW3's new typography? If the font haqs Kerning, that should be automatic. If the font has ligatures, that should be automatic. And lastly unless there are CSS command(s) to disable hyphenation, that should be automatic as well.
