I think the DX failed because the it was just so much more expensive. I justified the cost of my iPad (to myself anyway) because it's capable of so much, but for the longest time the DX was almost $300 and before that closer to $450 IIRC. I didn't buy mine until the price dropped to $199 and the case was $10 when Amazon did the 5 payment no intrest deal last year. |

A 6.8" premium Kindle does make sense. Kobo have proved the demand is there. Kindle users who have dumped the Voyage because of their dissatisfaction with the front-light have generally moved to the Aura H2O, and been well pleased with it. Maybe Amazon will take note. There is no doubt that there is a demand for a 6.8".
Certainly, it makes sense for them to add features to the Voyage to differentiate it from the PW3, as the difference between the devices has become less with the increase in PW3 screen def. The problem with the Kindles is that they are all so similar because they are all 6". But if they introduced a 6.8" Voyage, would they keep the 6"? And will they drop the price of the Voyage? If so, once again, their already similar devices will overlap even more. A bit of a conundrum for Amazon. I'm curious to see if they will innovate or play it safe and boring. It is obvious this increase in spec in the PW3 will hurt Voyage sales. |

Here's a Kindle Chronicles video where Len Edgerly compares the new Paperwhite 3 with both Paperwhite 2 and Voyage.

Depends how large your hands are, and how large the reader is. I can comfortably hold my Voyage in one hand, with my thumb on the bezel. A slight increase in pressure on the haptic sensor, and the page turns. I don't have to move anything, and there are no inadvertent page turns. I'm left-handed, so I hold it in my right hand, but there are sensors on both sides, so it would work equally well for right-handed people holding it in their left hand.

Some might be able to hold the paperwhite with one hand and still change pages, I cannot. Those are facts. My hands are my hands and yours are yours. What happens in my case is I lose grip on the device and it slips. Moving the thumb over breaks the balanced grip I have on it. Cover or no cover, makes no difference. I end up with such a strained grip trying to hold on, my wrist hurts to bad after a few minutes it takes me out of the story. Add to that the constant joint going back and forth.
I read my Voyage now without a cover. At night I put the cover back on. I can read it with one hand very easy with no cover. No stress on the thumb, no stress on my wrists and I don't lose grip. With the cover its a tad heavier so I prefer sitting it on the chest or sideways in bed. I can hold it with one hand in the cover and change pages, but I prefer the lighter non covered Voyage for that. I have one of the lightest covers around for it by the way, a Fintie. Which I use because its so easy to get the Voyage in and out of it. I was able to read my K1, K3, basic all with one hand because of the buttons. I could never read my PW one handed because of lack of buttons. So its an easy decision for me. |

The only way I can page forward on an ereader with my left hand is by using either buttons (Nook Simple Touch)or the page sensors on my Voyage. I did try changing the page press sections on koBo so a left tap moved forward and a right tap backwards but it got too confusing. My hands are just too small.

I find that sometimes it's more convenient to use my nose to change pages...
