hi, I'm using your Cool Reader on the Touch Lux 3 with Firmware 5.7 and very much like it. However I'm having one grave issue, frequently the Reader forgets where I read into a book. When I start it again, it opens the last read book on the cover page and I cannot find back to my previous reading position. It seems to occur when the device turns off itself after delay (10 minutes in default setting), but also not always.

Did anyone else experience this problem or has an idea how to resolve it??

Hi,

after reading a couple books. I have some feedback on coolreader. Here on Touch Lux 2 with Firmware 5.7.515 cr 0.0.6-17-23.

*) Sometimes, I think every first time I set a bookmark, CR closes all the way instead of simply going back to the page.
*) I cannot find an option to deactivate hyphenation.
*) how can I set how long until the screen saver comes / how do I deactivate that?
*) the user interface in the settings is counter intuitive. Wouldn't it be better to use the arrow keys to step through the pages on a level. The ◼ commit as an OK button and ● as cancel button?

No idea about that. I never use bookmarks. I use coolreader for actual reading. No notes, no bookmarks... I rarely even open any menu (except for when I'm developing, obviously).

Settings > Formatting settings > Hyphenation > [No Hypenation]

That can be changed from the system/share/keymaps/pb62x.ini file.
● is a global hotkey for the home screen so you can't overwrite it from coolreader.

I second that, and I would like to add that the secondary pages in configuration are hard to reach, with the tiny arrow in the upper right corner. It always takes a number of tries to get to the following pages in the configuration menu.

I suppose you're using the pb62x skin instead of pb626fw5. pb626fw5 is optimized for 758x1024 screens while pb62x is optimized for 600x800 screens.

Sorry about the confusion with the hyphenation. You see I use American English hyphenation, which is on the 3rd page of the different hyphenation alternatives. I didn't figure there would be a [No Hypenation] at the head of the list. An extra setting to just turn it on and off would be really nice.
I presume these are global settings. Are settings on a document level also possible. Hyphenation and formation settings would be prime candidates.

I am using pb626fw5 btw. It looks much nicer, but turning pages is still difficult.

No. Actually it's one of the main reasons I use coolreader. I hate reconfiguring the app for each book.

Hmm. I find it quite easy to handle. Maybe increasing the buttons width would help. I'll look into it.

The obvious approach would be to allow a set of default values with per-book overrides as desired. The main reason I am using CR is that is allows me to apply my CSS, regardless of what's specified in the book.

Yes, but in case of hyphenation my preferred settings depend on the document language. I read books in different languages.

Btw I was able to reproduce the set bookmark issue just minutes ago.

• I went to the center menu/bookmarks
• then held my finger on a free slot until the set or goto bookmark menu popped up.
• I selected set. And found myself on the desktop.
• CR was gone but the bookmark and last viewed page were set correctly.

I couldn't reproduce that. After setting the bookmark it returns to the normal reading screen. It doesn't close CR.

Maybe, there is a small bug with Links.
First link on the page that you click and when go back works well. But second: when you'll go back you'll return not to the original page, but to the page that first link pointed to.

I use 0.0.6-17.26 CoolReader version on a PocketBook 626.

Is it no more possible to change the image menu by a 'cr3_pb_quickmenu.png' image picture in system/share/cr3/skins ?

You can change it in the skin archive (cr3skin files are just zip archives).
There doesn't seem to be any support for loading the image from any other location. I also don't recall changing anything regarding this.

Loving this reader. I'm finding the experience to be much better than the default readers, mainly because it's so customisable.

Agreed. Plus I can already set per-book overrides, just not from the application. That's what I use the book's embedded CSS for.

The only thing I can't override is page margins for certain pages (e.g. covers and other fullscreen images). The @page selector doesn't work and I'm not aware of any other way to do it. That's my biggest gripe about CR currently.
