I wonder if the new PW3 is using the same screen as the Voyage and if so does it have the same colour issue? Also Amazon don't usually update decides in June so I wonder if they've released the PW3 early because of Kobo?
I just want to know if they have an updated Voyage with a perfect screen (like PW2 was against PW1) as that is what I am looking for. |

They are making a big push in China.
Maybe they didn't want to wait another four months. |

It's a bit much to expect a firmware update for the DX, though, which is essentially a Kindle 2. |

I bought a basic so I could read again and yes those are nice buttons. Of course they took those away now too. I also though needed the light for my eyes. The Voyage haptic buttons work pretty well I have to say. I don't have to move my thumb, but just press down slightly and I can still hold it in one hand doing that without losing the grip. I don't know where you live or if you have a store where you could at least touch those buttons to see how you like it. It took me a couple of weeks to find the sweetspot with sensitivity and feedback that I called thumb farts. ![]() I actually now find them a tad easier to use than the buttons on my basic. But either work fine for me. My screen on the Voyage has no color issues. And I know about screen unevenness as I had no luck with the PW1 in that regard. I notice nothing on my Voyage. |

Amazon is not unique in stopping active development of old models of fill-in-electronic-device-here. Amazon is unusual in making sure every device they ever sold still works as intended, even once active feature development ceases. There are reportedly still Original Kindle owners who still use those Kindle without problems. Could you get any further from the truth? For example, you are aware Amazon still creates mobi7 versions of all their books? Specifically for the pre-KindleKeyboard devices, as the KK and on all support KF8? Yet again you're talking absolute garbage. The DX didn't stop working once Amazon stopped selling it.

In any event I think I have demonstrated that Amazon is to be downright praised for their above-average dedication to their old devices. As I said, even the Original Kindle still works fine -- even though they didn't get the very latest new features. ![]() Your Apple comparison is still ridiculous. |

I would very much like to have the new PW and Voyage in my hands to compare them both intrinsically as well as extrinsically. |

I'm hoping we get a Voyage refresh that pushes it a bit further ahead of this new PW3. I do want the Voyage's flush screen. Could not care less about the haptic buttons. Just now hoping to get more value for my next E-ink dollar, given how competitive the new PW3 is.

You are categorically wrong. It did not become useless. It became a legacy device without new features, that still has perfectly good hardware and integration with the Kindle Store. Call it obsolete if you will -- any old device will fit that shoe. I am typing this on an 11-year-old computer, every component in it is "obsolete", yet it runs perfectly well on a bleeding-edge operating system. Given that Amazon does not have a magic wand that they can wave over all the DXes in the world to make them new, no kidding they are obsolete. My Kindle Touch is obsolete. What is your point? |

I am typing on a Chromebook, but to my left is a giant CRT on a 17 year old Dell, 450Mhz, updated many times to XP running my wireless router and home printer network. I can set up a download on it and walk away with no worry. I can format perfectly my stock portfolio or a map better than anything I can do on the Chrome. It is like an old saw or ax. Just sharpen it once in a while and it is still an excellent tool. |
