It does take away some of the justification for the premium charged for the voyage. Now that the paperwhite has the same screen as the voyage, people will ask themselves if page turn buttons and a flush screen are worth the huge difference in cost.

I'd be surprised if we were to see a Voyage replacement before the autumn, but Amazon do spring these surprises on us, don't they? Interesting that none of the self-proclaimed "industry watchers" predicted this new device. |

Why the "except"? I doubt that many existing Kindle users will consider the Kobo Glo HD now that they have something that is more similar in terms of price and features.

I doubt that many existing Kindle users would have considered the Glo HD before this announcement either. If you've spent a fair amount of money within the Amazon walled garden, most people have neither the inclination nor the knowledge to convert book formats. One thing Amazon are very good at is encouraging brand loyalty.

Interesting. I would still buy the Voyage. I need the page "buttons" and I like the auto light and the flush bezel. So even though the price difference for that is a bit much, I would still have to get the Voyage as I must have the page buttons. Besides the screen and readability, its the next most important thing for me. So I sure hope they'll always have a Voyage or equivalent with those haptic thingies. Or actual buttons, I don't care which, I just need them. |

I have a Voyage and a PW2 and I can't really see much difference in the screens. Actually I can't tell the Voyage is higher definition. I've turned off the Page Press because I prefer swiping. I've turned off the self adjustment feature on the light because I don't need it. So my Voyage is a smaller, lighter, easier to hold Paperwhite. And that's what I love about the Voyage. I'll probably read a bit with the Paperwhite today to give it a second chance but I've been thinking about getting a second backup Voyage and I don't expect this to tempt me away from that. But I'll let it try. Barry |

Hmnn. Launching simultaneously in Canada. That's a nice change from Amazon. Not that I'd be buying one... but to date the Voyage still isn't available up here. (I have an academic curiosity in how Amazon treats the Canadian market.)

Why should they bother focusing on Canada if that is the attitude you lot have? |
