No, it is not bundled with KSM 07. You have to install the night mode hack by yourself. I added the link to my general description.

I am not sure why it is not working. Maybe you try it again. Download the most recent version of pbchess 2015-05 (it is work in progress, so the package may have changed since you downloaded it). Unzip/untar the archive until you find the folder vlasovsoft (pbchess-2015.05_kobo.zip > KoboRoot.tgz > KoboRoot.tar > mnt\onboard\.kobo\vlasovsoft). On your device, replace the folder vlasovsoft, which is in .adds with the new one (I mean delete the old folder vlasovsoft, if there is any, and copy the new one into .adds). Then reboot your device. If it is still not working we have to think about it again.

I do also suspect that Sergey is updating his pbchess download package, without changing the version number. So I did download the current 2015.5 even though I had one already in my download folder.

The process that tshering is describing is the normal way to do a routine update to the Vlasovsoft package, and I usually do it that way, but I got lazy and just used the KoboRoot.tgz. I wonder if I may have just lucked out doing it that way, this time, as maybe Sergey made changes to the firmware this time and that it might be more likely that those changes are having the impact on KSM7+4. The vlasovsoft folder changes should be less likely to effect KSM. Just a guess on my part. (I would expect that the process KSM uses to start the vlasovsoft launcher only needs to start a file that is in the vlasovsoft folder.)

This is probably true. However you can check the version via the "last modified" date.

There are a few major differences in the "vlasovsoft\launcher.sh" that are in the two 2015-05 download files. While both files have the same name/version number, the contents are different. In the case of the "vlasovsoft\launcher.sh" while they both have that string, only the new one sets a variable for the Glo HD. There are a few other differences.

It's not anymore. Sergey is now working on 2015.06, so current 2015.05 is the final version, we won't get any new 2015.05 builds.
2015.06 is not yet released though.

And yes, he actually DOES update packages, he just doesnt state build numbers anywhere, so 2015.05 could be different. Final 2015.05 was released at June, 2.

Yes, of course you were quite right. After reinstalling I got the same problem with my old koreader installation. It turned out that my customized sed-statements slowly killed the koreader.sh script. It turned the reader.lua line into one with a lot of repeating options. Each time I called koreader from KSM an option was added. Not harmful, but apparently also no executable after half a terminal screen of options.
In effect it felt a bit like a rather late spring cleaning of my ereader .

EDIT: Rotation issue remains, so I'll accept your invitation, too. The script logs were generated on a Kobo Aura H2O.
