Packing up our kit for a three-day dive trip down in the Gulf of Thailand. Quick flight down to Koh Samui, then a fast speedboat over to the tiny island of Koh Tao. I used to dive there regularly years ago, before there was electricity or cars (or even roads) on the island, and only bamboo bungalows on the beach for rent for $5 a night. These days there are genuine hotels, cars, and even a hospital! Little island only 8k long and about 3k wide, but there used to be some really great diving to be had back in the early 90's. By 2010 it was fully developed, but we'll stay in a more remote area of the back side of the island away from the backpack party people. Should be a nice few days!

Trying to get energized to get going. I had a couple of tons of hay delivered last night and the driver brought in a 5th wheel even though I told him that could be problematic. Getting it in was an issue, getting it out was an event. My car is in a patch of nettles because I had to move it RIGHT NOW! I need to cover toe to head to move it. I'm still suffering nettle burn from last night. Then to the farmers market so the dog can work, and then I have afternoon shift at work.

And my well is having issues. Just got a new pump last month. No shower for me. Bleh

Sitting in bed watching a film. From the corner of my eye I keep seeing movement outside of the window. It looks like bats have returned after a lot of years.

Bats! That's what we need around here. I wonder how difficult it is to build and maintain a bat house?

I just discovered that the Dutch Netflix has added the first two seasons of Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries! I've read that several people on MR really like the series so I've been wanting to watch the series. It also looks like a series my mother will like so we can watch together (always more fun) during the boring months of summer of Dutch tv.

I've always loved bats. I loved to watch bats circle the yard in summer when I was young (they've been absent for over 20 years) and my first presentation in primary school was about bats.

On another note. I thought I had mice between my bedroom ceiling again. They sounded different than before, more noisy and very vocal. However, last night I noticed that the squeeking has turned into tweeting (not the social media kind). It looks like a bird couple have found their way into they ceiling from the outside. Hopefully they will leave the nest soon because they are very noisy at night and early in the morning.

Since you have the insect eating type bats where you are, maybe putting a bat house up on the roof might help?

I'm looking into it, but with all the old houses in the inner city (ours is build in sections between 1500 and 1700) I know they'll have no problem finding homes for themselves.
