Went out to dinner last night with friends to a place called "Scotch and Vine". They have some 200+ single malts available. Sigh, so many malts, so little time...

I had a flight of Bruichladdich Port Charlotte (the PC7 version), Talisker 18yr, and an Ardbeg "SuperNova". The Talisker was lovely, just like a more reasonably priced Talisker, but more refined if one can use that word about any Talisker. Very nice indeed. The Ardbeg was an Ardbeg, and while peaty and smoky, ultimately didn't show well in this flight. The Bruichladdich, however, was a real pleasure. Complex, almost floral, and yet heavily peated. I liked it a lot. And it has suddenly showed up in BC Liquor stores, so I think I'll grab a bottle before they change their minds.

Third mug of tea for the day. I'd be mowing the lawn, but the forecast calls for rain. It hasn't rained yet, but it might ... so, no sense taking chances.

Indeed - the Port Charlotte is a lovely summer single malt - light floral palate but heavily peated - a true taste treasure for the tongue!
[and yes, it's heresy, but it stands up well to ice - I did make a Bruichladdich slushie]

A new tea for me today, Peet's Snow Leopard. A white tea, and very nice indeed. Brewed at 180F for 3 minutes, this has a yellow licquor and a strong, slightly floral, nose. Smooth, round mouth and a definite finish. Not really a breakfast tea, but I really wanted to try it after bringing it home last night.
