Thank you! Yeah she was so bad she couldn't stand up. The day before she went to the hospital for tests and I begged her to go to the ER and she wouldn't. The next day she couldn't even get out of bed. Her hemoglobin was at 6 and she had a really bad infection. I threatened her and got mad at me till I got enough fight in her to get her to the ER. Stubborn woman could have died on me. I told her you either go in a car or in an ambulance your choice but you are going. I can be persistent.

Surprisingly some of the $1.99 titles have also been discounted on the Harlequin site! It's mostly the more recent titles that exist there and none of the $0.99 list has dropped but that's still more than the last big Avon sale.

Also, even though I was told in the future they would have bonus redemptions to offer higher priced titles for the "free" book—for more than 5000 points obviously—that there are "no plans to do so currently".

I've been saving up my points as the Sharpe & Donovan series releases first in hardcover, so the ebook is pricey. Thankfully it looks like it will be $9.99 retail rather than the $20+ they've been in the past. I used to use my ARe 10-for-1 to get them. Bummed that it misses the $8.99 freebie cutoff by just $1 I'd even be willing to spend 10000 points to get the $9.99 - $15.99 books.

Today was a long horrible day. I got a phone call from a Police deputy at 3:30AM that the girl who suppose to be taking care of my mom while sis in the hospital was no where to be found and she had popped the window screen and left it open and disappeared. They found her in town walking. It turns out she had stolen alot of my mom's things and she had multiple warrants out for her arrest. The deputy actually ask me if my mom would be okay by herself so he could take the woman to jail. If not he would overlook the warrants for now. He couldn't tell me what they were and there was no way I could let that woman stay with my mom after that. So on no sleep I and hubby drove 30 minutes to where mom is to make sure she was okay. The police have been phenomenal today. Patrolling and checking up on mom as we ran so many errands for her. We were afraid the woman and her boyfriend would retaliate and her stuff was still at mom's till we delivered it to her son. It was super stressful. I have talk to a few social workers and no one is really being any help. This woman broke the washer, the toilet and turn off the fridge(Mom lost all her food!) and left the stove burners on! I talked to this woman last night before all of this and got a feeling she was high as she couldn't stop giggling at nothing. I mean it was everything was super funny no matter what was being said.I just had a bad feeling after that and couldn't sleep. She is a friend of a friend who we trusted and even know that friend is blowing it off.

Now I have to get the state involved as I know not what to do. I did not moved here to put my mom in a nursing home. I have no choice if I can't find someone to come in and like I said the two social workers from health system and DRA were no help other then one calling to see if this one nursing home was open. I feel horrible and helpless and just want to cry no one else will help but thank goodness for the Police like I said they have really been checking on her and they even helped put her dogs up when they got loose. The police will continue to patrol her street till we don't need them anymore.

On a good note I think I will buy a book to make myself feel better. My sister passed her stress test! So that means Thursday they will finally do the surgery as it keeps getting moved. She could be home by Monday.

Blossom, how awful. That woman had no reason to do those cruel things with the kitchen appliances. Maybe you can get the locks changed. You have good reason not to trust things!

oh, my god - that's terrible

when my mom stopped being able to take care of herself, we weren't happy with the caregivers we found, so we checked out a lot of elderly care homes - which are not nursing homes - and found one she really loved. they took much better care of her than we could have, and my mom made friends while she was there and got involved with some social events, to my surprise. i still dropped in every day to make sure things were going okay, but not all homes are bad places.

here in l.a. the social workers we tried to work with didn't prove to be much help, but it can't hurt to ask for advice or guidance... and then double check everything.

Somehow Kobo gave me a $10 credit but it expires the 15th. I spent all but $5 can someone recommend a good book to get? I haven't been keeping track of sales or any new books that are out so help me spend it! :

I like Paranormal, Romantic suspense and Funny romances. I also like older historical romances.

Shannon Stacey's Under the Lights is book one in her Boys of Fall series. It's got a lot of humor like her Kowalski series, but I wouldn't necessarily categorize it as "Funny."

Justine Davis' Rebel Prince, the long awaited last book in her Coalition Rebellion series came out in January. Not sure if you already bought it or not.

Most of the recent paranormals are part of series, so not sure which ones you're reading.

ETA: Ilona Andrews Burn for Me is on sale at Kobo (and elsewhere) for $1.99
