Help!!!! CantOpenError: unable to open database file

All;
I am running E-Calibre on Windows 7 and love it. I finally imported and organized over 3,000 pdf books and papers and I can't do without it. All of a sudden I'm getting the following error whenever I try to open a book.

CantOpenError: unable to open database file

Has anyone seen this error before? I'm concerned that I'm going to lose my entire library. Any help at all would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks;
Frank

Caution
DO NOT willy-nilly try your own repair as you can destroy/invalidate the metadata backup files in each folder (metadata.opf) if you do this incorrectly.

Wait for further advice from the developers. (and you can read the FAQ pages about similar topic)

In the meantime:
1) Reboot
2) disable your antivirus/firewall ( Disconnect you network cable/turn off WiFi while this is being done)
3)Start Calibre. Success? an update of #2 is probably where you need to do work.

It would also be helpful if you provided all of the error details. Are you seeing a dialog box with an error message? If so then there should be a "Details" button on the box. Click it, copy the info, and paste it into a post here.
