No, it's one of the minimal-type shell cases where the reader will snap inside the shell. It is quite nice, but I wish the cover on it was a bit more sturdy. It's a bit more flexible then I'd like, but I think it will be fine for how I handle my reader. The Coodio cover by comparison is very stiff and rigid, but also a little bulkier. But I love how slim and lightweight this cover is, and that there's no extra lip sticking out the side. Definitely don't rest anything very heavy on the cover (but I wouldn't do that with any cover, even the Coodio), and if you tend to stuff things in a purse that might press against the front of reader, I'd say pass on this cover for a sturdier one.

And yes, it definitely has a magnet along the side that is more than strong enough to keep the cover closed. The sleep function works perfect on it as well. It does not cover any of the reader functions, so even the reset pinhole is reachable while in the cover.

Edit: I ordered the blue and it's a darker blue and not the lighter shade as shown in the pics at Amazon.

What does the inside of the case look like and how does the Kobo attach. Is it like the official case?

Sparin v Omotion. Is one better than the other?

The Kobo snaps into the case. See the Sparin pics for details. They both look the same to me.

If you plan to put the Kobo into a backpack or overfilled handbag, I would suggest waiting for more protective cases to become available.

I also just recieved the Omoton case and I am very impressed with it. The cover lines up perfectly with the rim and it looks to be sealed in. It fits like a glove and is featherlight. The auto wake feature works perfectly. It's exactly what I want and am looking for.

It definitely looks to be durable. I actually disagree with Fbone - it's a strong shell case, I think it would take very heavy objects to bend the cover. The lid completely seals the device except for the usb and power button hole. IMO, the biggest danger with shell cases is coins or other small objects sliding into the gap between the cover. I've had thicker cases with covers, that are not as well designed and that easily can be pushed away from the rim. This case is well designed and does not allow for that. I trust that it would hold up very well in a backpack or suitcase.

This is my fourth Omoton case(three others for my kindles) and highly recommend it. My kindles have been well protected through a lot of travel over the last year using the cases.

They also updated the amazon page with more pictures:

I actually decided this morning that I wanted the better protection of the Coodio case since I take mine with me everywhere and swapped the Glo HD from the Omoton case. The cover is really too flimsy and flexible. It will protect the screen against scratches, but not against anything else. The slightest pressure even with your finger and the cover bows in. Anything that might even slightly press against that cover in your purse or backpack will probably end up with a cracked substrate.

It is very nice looking, fits like glove, very slim and lightweight, everything else is just perfect about the case. Just not how flexible the front cover is.

I just decided to buy an alternate case. I should have looked first before buying, I really dislike the molded snap-in case. The price is good, about half the other case and it is a slip in type. I have a similar case for the Glo and I like it very much. Not the first time I have been burnt by a manufacturers case. I sprang for an official case for the Kindle a few years ago. Turns out the metal hooks caused some type of connection short in the device and I had to replace the cover. Fortunately the device could be restarted, which I learned about here on MR.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/321772227071

I am still going to wait until absolutely necessary before removing it!

Personally I like the Omoton case very much, but it is not available in Germany. Neither is the official Kobo sleep cover. Until any of these covers are released in this area, I will have to use my Timbuk2 sleeve (which is way to big for the Glo HD, but at least offers good protection).

Edit: But maybe Ripplinger is selling me his Omoton case.

Does anyone know any sites that will ship the Omoton case to Canada? It looks just like the one that I had for my Paperwhite, which was awesome. I cannot stand the official Kobo case for the Glo HD.

I have the Kobo $30 USD cover that I ordered from Kobo along with the reader itself. The triangular tab on the RHS can either be held with the right hand or can be folded under first with the full LHS cover placed over that. Then the device and be held with either hand. Does anyone here know if the other covers are better than the Kobo cover in terms of ease use? I find myself going back and forth between using the cover open and holding with my right hand (triangular tab) or my left hand (full cover open) and folded over holding with either hand. Too many choices...

I am looking with interest at reviews here and on Amazon for these 2 covers:

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00X560IC6/...C5E3KR02&psc=1

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00NL9LA2O/...2L72PEBV&psc=1

I also wish the Kobo HD Glo device could remember the page I was on when I fall asleep. My thumb rests on the display and sends me many pages ahead.
That is one advantage the Kindle PW has. The bezel sides are pressure sensitive so you can press the sides to change pages. That is harder to do when falling asleep.

Several of us have already received the 1st Omoton cover and posted our finding just above or on the previous page. Basically it's a great case, lightweight, very slim, doesn't add much bulk at all to the reader, and is very nice looking and nice to hold. However the top cover is very flexible, just gently pressing your finger against the cover you'll see it bow inward towards the screen. If you throw your readers into backpacks or purses where something could be putting any amount of pressure against the front cover, this is not the cover for you. The front piece just isn't sturdy enough.

The 2nd case by Sparin looks to be identical to the Omoton case.

You're talking about the PW not the Voyage with the haptic buttons, right? I can't get the page to turn on my PW by pressing on the sides. And even if you can I wouldn't suggest using that method. It would create pressure on the screen which could eventually lead to a broken substrate which would in turn render the PW useless.

Thanks, Ripplinger. I saw your reviews as well as the others and appreciate them.

I am migrating from Mantano Reader/Calibre Companion on a Nexus 7. I miss Mantano but really like the clarity and simplicity of the Kobo reader. Getting epubs from Calibre to the Kobo has to via USB but otherwise is painless. Kobo works in daylight and is generally much easier on the old eyes. My Nexus 7 does not like to be away from a charger for more than 6-7 hours. Kobo doesn't know what a charger is...

The cover I have is stiff enough and I am really very easy on my gadgets.
I was just wondering if the Kobo felt/handled better in the covers without the extra tab on the RHS. I will just get the Omoton or Sparin case and report back here. BTW my Kobo cover covers the paperclip reset hole, but I have no problem removing the device from the cover or doing the dremel tool trick on the cover with the device removed of course.

What is the "dremel tool trick?" I also like the cover in general. But why did they cover the Reset Hole?! I have a non-flap cover for my (older) Glo. I have to hold the Glo from the right edge and sometimes it spontaneously goes to sleep if I press a bit too much. The flap cover works better for me, provides a bit more side protection for the screen and I think it looks nice

Maybe I have made too much about the Reset Hole being covered, if it is so easy to get the device out of the cover. I haven't actually tried...

Any hints on how to do it without risking the device? I have noted what others have suggested, but am interested in other people's experience.

I think the trick is drilling a small hole through the cover to expose the reset hole.
