Happily, since I backed the previous Kickstarter and thus already have the complete LIGHTSPEED collection, they agreed to transfer those six credits over to one of the other two magazines.

Well, they're still sorting out the conversion of the Lightspeed backissues (that I already have) to the Fantasy back issues, which will do me. I would ask about the credits too, but I'm just not interested in horror.

Still, it was a quilting book that I technically did not need, I have so many already. Oh, yeah, and those kickstarter magazines. Gotta start reading those.

Oh good, I can ask for that as well and get more horror. I actually prefer horror short stories over books these days. This will be my last Kickstarter, I think. I'm not sure I can even read what I have in 5 years.

New Calculations: My kickstarter has got me: 1 x Queers Destroy SF: £0.76 1x Queers Destroy Horror: £0.76 1x Queers Destroy Fantasy: £0.76 1x Queer Anthology: £0.76 (sic) 12 x new issues of LightSpeed Magazine: £0.31*12 = £3.72 57 x back issues of Fantasy Magazine: £0.31*57 = £17.67 Still a very good deal.

I just bought about 20 books over the last couple days. But they were Discworld books I didn't have yet, on sale for 99¢ each...

Absolutely justified. The kind of special deal you shouldn't pass up, and the reason we try to be restrained most of the time. Congratulations.

I bought four full-price* Big Five books last week, at least in part for political reasons. Two are Tor books, bought to show support for them during the current SF hullaballoo, one is a Penguin book bought to support an author who's been saying really smart things about said mess, and the last is unrelated to the mess. All four were on my wish list; I merely made it a priority to purchase them sooner. I may have spent four or five dollars more than I would have by waiting for one hardback-equivalent's price to drop, but there's also the chance that the Penguin prices will go up without notice, which would have cost me four bucks - so I consider it a wash. I didn't need them now, but supporting good folks is a good thing to do. * Well, not marked down at the retail level, anyway. Two of them are mass-market equivalents that are $8 in some stores and $6 at Amazon and Google, so I bought them at Google. |

Bob, that's great buying a book to support a company or author in the midst of controversy. Sadly, I just buy because it's on sale.

I solved my problem. I don't have a problem. I am not hoarding books. I collect e-books. e-books do not collect dust. I don't have a problem collecting 1493 dust free e-books (and growing yet still dustless). I do actually read most... some... a portion... a miniscule shelf or two but I do like the view of the "real" books covering my wall over there whilst they DO collect dust everybody got a monkey... mine is dustless and I like it. |

Very good! Now you have two problems. The original one and the fact that you are living in denial... |

Me hath a problem, me can't say no to free ebooks me are offered . And no not that kind of "free ebooks", you get on P2P sites, mine come from authors & Publishers, Sux being on their mailing list sometimes. My TBR pile is so long right now, I need to be reincarnated at least 4 times to finish them all, and I know of about another ~300 pbooks that will end up on my book rack sooner or later, depends when my Mom-in-law sends them over to me. And then their is amazon's free ebooks each day, but got a lot more selective there, Kindle scout is another place I view regularly. The one publisher offered 8 free ebooks this week, I was able to reign myself in and only ask for 2, one is free on amazon, and one I got free earlier in June. |
