Kobo Start Menu 07

(Inspired by Play chess on firmware 3.15 by traycold)

The version for KSM 07:
Installation:
Copy the content of the archive into .adds\kbmenu (so that you have the files add_chess.sh and so on in the folder .adds\kbmenu\scripts_intern\kobo_diverse\add_tiles _of_extras).

Usage:
select (in KSM home): "tools" > "kobo diverse.msh" > "add tiles of extras"
select "add chess.sh" (or what else you want to add)

The error code (let us hope it is "0") will be shown in the notification field at the top of the screen.

The version for KSM 08:
Installation:
extract KoboRoot.tgz from setBFeatureTiles_KSM08.zip and copy it to .kobo
safely eject the device and disable usb

Usage:
select (in KSM home): "tools" > "nickel diverse.msh" > "add tiles of extras"
select "add solitair.sh" (or what else you want to add)

Be aware that not all extras work on all devices and under all firmware versions.

I falsely put exit_nickel.png into the root folder instead of kbmenupngs! Now everything works as it should. Thank you very much!

Hello there! How do I put my Kobo Glo HD to sleep in KSM07? There is no sleep option as mentioned in the earlier post. I can't find it in "tools". Yet, I don't want to power off every time I stop reading. Thanks!

There should be a sleep function in the reader you are using. Nickel, Koreader, and Coolreader all have access to a sleep function. The KSM Poweroff function is perhaps an option for those who experience excessive battery depletion when they leave their device in sleep mode overnight.

Thank you Ken! Before I went to bed last night, there was 97% battery left. When I woke up this morning, only 84% left. This is totally unacceptable. I am planning on trying to exit Koreader, enter Nickel and put my device to sleep to see how the battery does the next morning!

I removed suspend from the main menu, since it did not work reliably. If you want to try it nonetheless, copy suspend.sh from .adds\kbmenu\onboard to .adds\kbmenu\scripts; then you can execute it:
select (in KSM menu) scripts > suspend.sh.
In a post somewhere in this thread, I posted a log file that shows that I had my reader sleeping two or three nights in a row without issues, and then it woke up by itself.

I am rather certain that this will turn out successfully. But isn't it simpler to turn the device off?

I didn't check every menu entry, but e.g. executing the db integrity check still rotates the screen 90° to the left. Tested on Glo HD.

There's some little error in start_nickel_fromloop.sh
line 26: f#i instead of #fi.
I know it's a comment line but, can it make an error message? I think probably not.

I hope this script does what you want. Use it at your own risk. Edit the values in the first block of the script and copy the script to .adds\kbmenu\scripts_intern\kobo_diverse.
