I noticed the full-screen option for YouTube no longer works at MobileRead. At least, it doesn't work anymore on my computer.

I have a plug-in for my browser that overrides the YouTube player and instead runs videos in the native one.

Apparently Windows disables the immersive browser if you don't have Internet Explorer set as default.

Oh, for the love of....
My dentist, unusually, has his offices open on SATURDAYS. That rocks, right?
And guess what time of day a molar, at the lower back of my jaw, decided to blow up tonight? (Dunno: cracked it? Abscess? But nothing prior to this, suddenly, KABOOM!, a giant throb of pain, now continuing...) EXACTLY 21 minutes after his office closed at 5:00. I mean, REALLY? If a tooth is going to blow the hell up and ruin a weekend, anyway, can't it at least have the (*&^%$#@ decency to do it BEFORE the damn dentist leaves for the day? For another whole day? Until Mooooooooonday? (Which feels as far away as if I were departing for a moon-landing...) URGHGHGHGHGHGHGHG! ![]() Hitch |

That sucks. If it's any consolation, most emergency rooms have a dentist on call to at least help with pain relief

Yes, if that's what it is (and it does sound like that), a root canal will resolve it. And the pain will simply disappear when the drill gets to the root cavity. The sense of pain relief is instantaneous. And ever muscle that is currently tensed up because of the pain relaxes all at the same time. Aaaahhhhhh.
Take whatever pain meds you have and need. And don't call for an appointment, just go in to the office the instant they open on Monday. They WILL fit you right in. Active severe pain always takes precedence over routine appointments. |

Indeed, I know this; sadly, (because I have s**t Irish teeth, no matter how much brushing, flossing, water-pik'ing, etc. I do), I've had several root canals. And yes, Charlie, I know that sense of relief, the moment the ick is removed. I happen to have some antibiotics sitting here, that I was given for a dental issue last year, and I'm already swallowing them. I'm advised that it's the infection that really causes the pain, so...any port in a storm. Last year, I managed to somehow get an abscess BENEATH a bridge (oh, joy), in November, and now this. I can't believe it. I mean, I've gone AGES without any dental issue, and suddenly, kablammo, twice in less than a year. URGHGHGHG. My dentist is cool, though--I've been lucky, had two great ones in a row, despite moving nearly 60 miles away from my former dentist--so I know they'll get me in and fixed up first thing. If I was selfish, he'd come in today--I can even reach him at home. But unless I end up on the floor with the pain, I'm not going to force him to come in on a Sunday. I know all too well what it's like to have only one lousy day off a week. This pain is pretty horrid, but between the old Orajel P.M. (they changed the formula, but I have a tube of the old good stuff) and the pain meds I have here, I can butch it out for another 24 hours, I think. Hitch |

I, also, have "Irish" teeth. I've often said I have just enough white stuff to hold the fillings together. My kids, fortunately, have grown up in the age of fluoride and sealants, so their teeth are in much better shape.
I had an abscess under a molar a few years ago. Apparently a filling cracked and opened a path for bacteria to get under the tooth. On Thursday I felt a twinge, on Friday I had a very noticeable toothache -- but I figured I could hold off until my dentist opened his office on Monday. Wrong. By Saturday morning my jaw was swollen and I was running a fever. I called my dentist's service, he opened the office for me, took an X-ray to confirm that it was an abscess* and gave me a prescription for antibiotics. Since it was a pretty nasty infection not far away from my brain, that seemed like a good idea. If it gets worse you might want to check into the emergency room option to see what they think. * Like many health professionals, my dentist tells horror stories about patients who look up their symptoms on the internet and think they know what's going on. When I called I told him I thought it was an abscess and gave him the background info, but also mentioned I'd done some online research. When he brought the X-ray into the office he said, "So, you want to see what an abscess looks like?" |

my anti rant;
my PAIN IN THE ASS NEIGHBORS ARE MOVING!!!!!! these cretins put a dirt bike track into a the sideyard of a 750k house. the property has a protected wetland on one side and backs up onto a "class 4" salmon stream (a big deal around here) I went over and spoke to them nicely but was blown off and the kids were making rude hand gestures at me. I told them they could pay attention to me or pay attention to the county. they got hit up with a couple of thousand in fines and they are RENTERS! I had notified the property owner who told me he had given them permission *oops* then this last weekend I finally texted the owner; I've gotten to the point where I dread weekends. Your tenants are the most incredibly rude and inconsiderate people I have ever met. I hear their music all day Saturday and Sunday not only in my yard, but in my house (they are on 5 acres, I'm on 10, that's how loud it is). I continue to hear and see the dirt bikes and ATVs even though the county has been there. The garage doors are always up with power tools running non stop. I don't know if he's running a second business there or what. I live in the country because I like the peace and quiet and am tired of feeling like I'm living over the garage at a race track. got a message back today that they were moving out. not sure if that was the straw, or it was already on track w00t w00t! a round for everyone! |
