The usual reason for this is there is something wrong with your Date/Time (or maybe timezone???). Go to Settings and have a look.

Excellent, thank you, that sorted it.

Quite why it effects the cover I daren't ask, or why it didn't pick up the correct date and time when registering.

Thanks again,

Steve

I have got an aura and before that a glo. Both are great. Rushed to the store today for a glo hd but returned disappointed. The inner side of the bezel is reflecting light. With the tl lighting of the store, it was really annoying to be confronted with a light reflecting in your eyes, whichever position you hold the device. Why didn't they just make it non reflective like the Glo? The hd quality of the screen was great. I think I'll try another store with different lights but I'm not so sure now it's a good choice. I mostly use it reading in bed with a low dimmed light on.

That's my really only complaint about the reader and I noted it in much earlier in the thread back on Page 57 with pics of the shine off that inner bezel.

I'm still curious if that inner bezel piece will just snap out if you remove the front shell and I might give it a try when I have time. I'd rather have the slight gap for the infrared beams than then shine, I've never really had a problem with dropping crumbs or getting anything stuck under the bezel.

I haven't noticed it as much where I read, but today I'll be reading outside in bright sun so will be a good time to see how bad it bothers me.

I don't know for sure, but I guess you would only destroy the distribution of the infrared light if you remove that piece. Your device would be useless then.

I was annoyed by the light reflection as well, but surprisingly I got used to it.

Because it is using the last read timestamp to decide which is the most recently opened but not finished book. If you open a book, set the time into the past, then open another book, that first book will still have the latest timestamp and the cover for it will be selected.

IF the piece just snaps out, if anything then doesn't work I should be able to just snap it back in place. It all depends on how it's put together. The regular Glo doesn't have any extra piece there, just the gap, but I suppose it's possible that it does perform a different distribution of the IR beams in the Glo HD.

Reading out in the sun today, when I tilted my Glo HD it looked like running LED lights going up and down the sides. And maybe it was just where the sun was at the time I tried, but really bright glares came off that shiny piece. I could find a way to adjust it to minimize it, but really you shouldn't have to do that. You should be comfortable reading no matter what position.

Returned Glo HD and got H2O instead.
A completely different experience. Both were on 3.15, but H2O is definitely faster - no lag highlighting words/looking up them in dictionary, page turn are as quick as my PW2. Reading on Glo HD felt like shore, while on H2O everything just works.

Now I'm one happy Kobo convert

Aura is more expensive and provides a shorter response in the pdf area, but I like it because its bigger, its beyond me why are e readers so small.

I would love that the Aura was the standard for size, hey even bigger would do!

Glad you're happy! I have tried pretty much every e-reader on the market and the H20 is definitely my favorite.

Here's what happens when reading in direct sunlight. This was not enhanced in any way to make the bright spot more pronounced, it's just an unaltered screenshot taken off the video where I created the effect of running lights up and down the sides just by tilting the reader slightly back and forward.

That's exactly what it is. Kobo needs to be adressed for a glo hd markII.

What makes it even better is that I paid for H2O less (on Indigo) than for Glo HD (on Kobo website) thanks to Visa checkout+strong US dollar. But it's just an icing on the cake - H2O on it's own is an excellent reader.
