No, on the Glo HD, the pinch to zoom works only works for PDF and possibly CBR and CBZ. It doesn't zoom in epubs or kepubs.

Even maps included can be compressed correctly to still appear at great quality without getting into the overkill sizes that bloat the book. But it seems whoever does the images for ebooks knows nothing about image compression.
When one of my kobo's open the book,it doesn't even show the cover.
it jumps directly to the first page.
Most of the time, ebooks are just the graphical files that would be used to print the paper book (therefor the quality of the pictures) and then are converted to ebooks.
Last time, I had one where the entire book was been written with color gray tags, not in the css but in the html files.. Sigil and Calibre had to help me to make a readable book of it.

Ok it has not much to do with the Glo HD here,in that "form" that you can have such a great reader, when the books are made so bad, any 300 DPI reader can't make it better so returning to that,if you are thinking, I want a Glo HD because this books are displayed so bad, jump in the source to see if it is the reader, or the poor quality of the ebook.. if it is the last, you will be disappointed with a new reader like the Glo HD.

Hello there! I am new here and I just got my brand-new Kobo Glo HD a few days ago!
I absolutely LOVE it! Though I have a few questions:

1. Is there a similar feature like Amazon's Vocabulary builder? Because I would love to have a list of words I looked up at the dictionary.

2. Can I export the highlight to my computer? I want to sync it to evernote for further studying and reviewing.

3. I know the Kobo Glo HD has a hidden SD card slot. Has anybody found a way to change it and the device recognizes the new sd card, say 32GB?

Thank you

I don't know if anyone here has tried it, but you would basically follow the instructions in this thread. I did it with the Kobo Glo (not the HD). But unless I get a second Glo HD, I am not going to do it with this one. The 4 GB it comes with is plenty for my needs.

Its not really "hidden", its more like a laptop's C: drive, inside the device.

Koreader has an Evernote plugin and I think it only does work with highlighting. (I haven't tried it.) I don't know if it will export the stock kobo highlighting, as it said it can Kindles.

Luck;
Ken

Yes and no.

Kobo do not have a tool to do it. But, they are stored in an SQLite database and there are several tools that people have written to extract them. I don't use evernote, so I don't know how suitable they are for use with it.

Yes, someone has. It is done in exactly the same way a the other Kobo ereaders that have an internal micro SD card. See Memory Upgrade Mod Guide. The instructions are for the Glo, but the steps and tools are the same.

Thank you so much for such a quick reply!
Thanks for the keyword SQLite database. I googled it and able to find some ways to do it! Highlighting vocabulary and then exporting it are fine for me

Important message for people from The Netherlands who pre-ordered this device at BOL.COM.
They have multiple suppliers for this device.
My pre-order from april was still pending while the Glo HD can be ordered now at the website, with delivery tomorrow.
They explained: The pre-order was done by supplier 1, who doesn't have it on stock right now so that is why it is still pending.
They now offer the "order today, deliver tomorrow" from a second supplier.
But they didn't shift the pre orders for supplier 1 who still doesn't have them, to the supplier they use now, so it can be pending for a long time.
Pre-ordering means now: later delivery !

At my request they cancelled the pre-order, I ordered again at the webshop and that one will be delivered tomorrow.
Be sure that if you have one in pre-order at BOL.COM and still doesn't get it tomorrow that you call them and ask if your pre-order also is pending for delivery because they ordered it at the supplier who doesn't deliver.
Devices pre-ordered at Wehkamp are sceduled for delivery tomorrow.

Just collected my HD from W H Smiths, I had ordered it via their website for delivery in store but that is still pending, even though it was the same store, go figure.

Just gone through registration, downloaded new Calibre, now going to transfer just my latest books over.

Well the screen is absolutely fantastic, only thing wrong so far is that no matter what book is current, when asleep it shows the same book all the time.
