Hi Davidfor - Our devices are identical across the globe (with exception for minor software tweaks as required). I believe the h2o is supposed to have an expandable memory slot so this appears to be a typo. Thanks for pointing this out! I'll have our device team update the marketing copy.

I think an efficient way for you to identify the email sent to all Australian account holders (and I suspect it was the standard email that was sent to all Aus account holders), is to know that the email was received at 5.20am, 1 May (Aus time/date), and that it was sent from:
reply@shop.kobo.com

Below are some more identifying photos that would be consistent across all Aus email account holders.

Let me know if I can be of further assistance. I am not complaining, but I thought that you'd probably want to know about it. My guess is it's a simple miscopying of the data to be included in the email.

On another matter, on the Aus home page today, the word 'moms' appears in the Mothers Day promo on the top right of the page. That is tacky, very tacky ..... we spell 'mums' as 'mums'. (photo attached)
Thanks Lynx-lynx,

I'll pass along the terminology mis-cue to our web team. As for the email piece, thanks for the details I'll send them along also. If you ever come across an email with language issues in the future, can you PM me with the details?

Thanks,

Brodie

New device and Mother's day promotion

I just looked at an email from Kobo that offers a free book after buying a Glo HD or Aura H2O. The email links to https://www.kobo.com/MothersDayoffer with the explanation. In the fine print, there is "eBook offer consists of a user’s choice from a selection of eBooks found at www.kobo.com/MothersDayredemption". The last bit is a link, but the URL is https://www.kobo.com/www.kobo.com/MothersDayredemption. That doesn't work.

Heya lynx-lynx,
Curiosity: When you talk about Aus listings, are you talking about A&R, or the kobobooks site that seems to localise prices on loading, or is it another address I could/should be looking at? Thanks!

G'day.

I only ever refer to Kobo Aus, and yes all prices are AUD.

Just use kobobooks.com.

Do you have a kobo account?

If you don't then that address will come up as Aus, and you'll be able to tell because of the Aus books/authors that will show as you scroll down the page.

Although if we had the Contest then at least we could use some codes on the discountable books.

Brodie you may be able to help out on the following:

Kobo Aus (and other countries) has got a $5 off a book for a new member sign up, but currently when a new member signs up and goes to buy a book the $5 off doesn't show up on the Checkout page.

Nor does it show in My Account > Payment Information. If one has store credit then it should show there as 'Store Credit Balance'.

The concern is of course, that if someone were to buy the ebook without the $5 off showing then they would pay the price as stated.

So, at the moment is there an issue with this $5 off promo for Aus new account holders?

The Aus link for the promo was used to create the new account - here it is:
https://www.kobo.com/5credit?style=o..._medium=skinny

The Sign Up Now button was used to sign up (it's under the promo).

EDIT

It's okay, the $5 off is showing now. The account was logged out of and logged back into after some time and and it was there.

So maybe a message needs to advise new account holders that the $5 store credit will appear in an approximate amount of time - say 30 minutes (or whatever).

My problem with the promo codes is two-fold:

1. Unless I do a search, or apply the coupon to items in my cart, I have no idea which books are eligible and which are not. This is cumbersome.

2. Most of the books I'm interested in buying are not eligible for promo codes. I realise this isn't necessarily Kobo's fault, but it does take the shine off them a bit for me.

I don't think I've ever seen a book that I've wanted to buy and has been eligible for a promo code. And my to-buy list is (quite literally) hundreds long.

If you want to know if a ebook is discount eligible then on the left Margin of the listings page you can click on "Items eligible for Promo Codes".

I've bumped this thread because Kobo has introduced an excellent initiative:

Price Match Guarantee:
If you find the same eBook on another website for a lower price, we'll credit you the difference plus an extra 10%!*
*10% of your original purchase price, within 7 days of purchase. Terms and conditions apply.

Look for this Guarantee at the bottom of the home page of kobobooks.com

Note: countries that I know it applies to: AU NZ US. But, I'm sure that Kobo has instituted it in other countries as well.
