I read a book short stories some time ago. Actually, it was a series of short stories with a frame, and it was excellent. (I'll dig up the title if you're interested.) Based upon what I've read thus far (which isn't much beyond what you've read), I nevertheless highly recommend him. The Delphi Classic title is very inexpensive. His stuff is in the public domain, so one can get it all free, from Mobileread and from other sources. |

Now reading Tudor: Passion. Manipulation. Murder. The Story of England's Most Notorious Royal Family by Leanda de Lisle.
I don't know what it is about these 500 years dead people that fascinate so... |

Just finished "Seeing a Large Cat" by Elizabeth Peters, the 9th book in the "Amelia Peabody" series of Egyptological mysteries. Amelia and Emerson get involved in (yet another) murder investigation when they find a (recent) body in an ancient Egyptian tomb. Tremendous fun, as always with this series. Highly recommended!

Next up: One from the 1921-1930 shortlist: A Passage to India by E M Forster. I picked up a free copy via Copia back in 2011, which was fortunate. |

Just finished a re-read of the first of Nathan Lowell's Solar Clipper series, Quarter Share. Frankly, I just wanted a comfortable old slipper, and this series is certainly that. I'm going to read the next, at least, which is Half Share. These are "coming of age" stories, or Trader stories, or Science Fiction, or all of the above. IAC, they're good reading, and the antithesis of MilSF. Sort of a YA SF Cozy.

OK.. I need something to read. My recent reads, while OK haven't been page turners.
I'm looking for a real page turner... something really good. It could be sf, fantasy, mystery, thriller, or even something else. You can look at the books I've read and my ratings here. https://www.librarything.com/catalog/PilotBob I just finished Soldiers! part one, and was underwhelmed, so won't be reading party two. |

That's easy. John Ringo's March Upcountry. First of a four part series. Currently available as Empire of Man, which includes books one and two. This is MilSF, but in a good way. And I see you haven't read it. I guarantee a page turner..

Personally, I enjoyed Preston & Child's early books such as The Ice Limit and Riptide. Dean Koontz's Moonlight Bay series was good. |

Stephen Ruin Cobb's Bones Burnt Black is a hard sci-fi novel with a murder mystery plot. Kelly Thompson's The Girl Who Would Be King is a good one, as well... Slightly different take on the superhero genre. |
