Collections on Kindle Voyage

Hello, What possibilities do I have to work easier with collections on non-jailbroken Kindle Voyage? Maybe create and/or operate them at distance, on Cloud, from PC? I am raising this issue because the keyboard on KV lacks characters specific for my language, and their name just looks bad. |

You could try setting collections from a jailbroken PW2 I suppose, then sync. Cloud Collections should transfer them to the other device as well. librariansync or Collections Manager kindlet can both manage collections for you, including in tandem with a calibre plugin. |

Thank you. The constraint is that the Voyage is not jailbroken. If another jailbroken kindle is available, your procedure indeed works. The kindle android apk, for instance, can create collections whose names can be written from android, with all needed diacritics. I am thinking that we can go further and fill collections with books per folder if the app to do that runs on a pc via cloud with the kindle connected by usb to that pc. This avoids the difficulty (or impossibility) to side-load books to kindle on pc. Last edited by hfpop; 05-23-2015 at 03:39 AM. |

Collections feature on (grayscale) Kindles ignore the file system directory and file structure. On the (grayscale) Kindles, the collections organization is stored in a system database. That means you have to have someway to add/change/remove entries in that database. Your choices are: One of our tools (which requires a jailbroken Kindle); or Triggering the built-in database management software. I.E: Use **Amazon Cloud** collections and the (grayscale) Kindle "sync" function. Side-loading of books does not enter into the situation. In fact, the books do not even have to be present on the (grayscale) Kindles. (They will be loaded on-demand from your **Amazon** cloud.) - - - - - I don't have any idea how the Android (color) Kindles handle collections.

(1) create the collections somewhere else, to appear as Cloud Collections; (2) use that "somewhere else" to populate the collections with books following a certain folder structure (similar to librariansync) (3) trigger the Kindle sync function and have the collections already populated. My feeling is that (1) and (2) can be done programmatically, even if this is not quite easy.
