@libreary addict, you're quite right, IE brings up the new site/checkout for AU as well.

It's changed since I last looked at it.

I'd hate to have to use it, it's just not right, the cart area doesn't show because of 'script' problems and the Checkout page is double shadowed with Edit your details as well as the non edit your details screens both loading over each other. And that's on entry to the Checkout page, not because I chose to edit my details.

Yuck!!

Gmail basically ignores periods in the first part of an email address (before the @ sign). Email sent to

username@gmail.com

Gmail also supports address tags (aka sub-addressing or "disposable" email addresses) using a + (plus sign). Other email services such as Yahoo, Outlook.com (Hotmail) and Apple also support address tags with either the + (plus) or - (hyphen).

So depending on the email system used, mail sent to

joeuser+work@example.com
or
joeuser-family@example.com

is delivered to joeuser@example.com .

Address tags are useful for filtering your email, automatically sorting incoming email into folders, etc. They are also different from email aliases, but there is some overlap between all three features.

Thank you and other posters who provided this info. I've since used these tips successfully with a gmail account.

I've been trying to work out if Hotmail accounts can be amended in some way like those examples illustrated. I've looked at the wiki link, and tested sending hotmail to accounts with a period, and a plus, and a minus, but none of them have taken.

Does anyone know how to use hotmail in this way? Is it possible?

Any advice on library merging? I did the customer service thing on Saturday (16th) and just got an email today saying they were sorry they may have missed my call and giving me their CS number. I was hoping to do this all online. (I've never had an issue with CS via email before. I have never been able to get them on the phone.)

Try replying to their email. I merged my libraries a few weeks ago and got the same message. I replied (via email) to the message with a very specific explanation of what the main account should be (with the relevant email address), and they took care of it within a few days.

Thanks! I already did that, I just wanted to make doubly sure. I've never had an issue with email CS with kobo, but they usually give a real email instead a "hey call us" at this point.

Did anyone get the referral 90% coupons after someone opened an account without asking for them? I'm wondering if I should be opening a ticket with Kobo, even though the referred was a very close relative probably using the same credit card.

My understanding, yes, if you provide the emails of the new people you referred and it's within the timeline of the promotion. And yes, they do check.

As primitive as Kobo's site is with everything else, I doubt very seriously that they even keep that type of record. Open a ticket - if you referred a new customer (not matter how close a relative ) you deserve a 90% discount code for yourself. I believe they only check if the account of the person you referred purchased a book.

No I had to ask. But I did receive the codes for the accounts started by my family members with the same billing address. I did have to provide the email addresses and the dates of purchase. I received one non-expiring 90% code for each address I provided (3).
