Yes, I could see the leds along the bottom and a slight change in light, but I couldn't care less. I found the light incredibly even.

My Glos show the bottom darker cone shapes from the LEDs, but really only slightly, it's more like very slightly darker smudges along the bottom, and it's not even anything that distracts me or the slightest annoyance at all.

I always have to consider that it still is more even lightning than reading a physical book with overhead lights.

If had very noticeable dark cone shapes there, then I might be tempted to return a reader, but so far the darker areas have really been minimal and I really have to look for them.

And on my Glo HD, they're not noticeable at all, it's a very nice even screen.

I really don't see how that's even possible since the Glo has a perfectly matte bezel all around. I could see it maybe happening with the Glo HD since the tiny gap for the IR beams is now sealed with a ridiculous shiny plastic piece all around the bezel and you might get a reflection off that bezel.

So no, I've never seen anything like you're describing. Are you sure it's coming from the bottom LEDs and not any overhead light or a reflection from elsewhere?

Why? They're running out of new features to entice people into upgrading, so I can definitely see a non breakable screen in the future.

That's my exact experience as well.

It is not really the bezel.. I try to make some pictures of it but it is hard to do because the camera adjust itself at the light.
I try to explain.
It is the upper top part of the screen near to the bezel, like the light that comes from the bottom lights the background perfectly but at the top there is still enough light to reflect to something and it makes the top a little bit brighter.
Compare it with lines of text, then the first line is more brightly on the background, the white background is a bit more lightened then the rest of the lines.
I know it is hard to read, I must try to translate it from my own native language into english, it is just the first 5 mm of the background at the top that has a bit more light then the rest of the screen.

@Ripplinger This is what I mean with the light reflection with my normal Glo, marked it red at one picture.
It is not from an source in the room,it is in the device itself at the top.

I got mine juste an hour ago it was officialy to be available in France at the FNAC stores from the 22nd of may, but I tried and went to the FNAC store next to my office, they had received them yesterday and the devices became available for sale from today on. The clerk did'nt even know there was a new kobo he had to search and ask (he's the one to sell those devices...). He was trying to induce me to buy a H20 (that is way to big for me).

Just now, it's charging, can't wait to get back at home to see it work... I think it will be a very long afternoon... Calibre, be ready, you'll have work tonight

Most reviews seem to find the Glo HD build quality to feel cheap & budget compared to H2O/Paperwhite. For someone who only use sleeve and no case, feel is quite important.

Kobo decided to use a new stippled bobble back design for the Glo HD instead of a smooth back. How does that feel compared to smooth?

I love the feel of the Kobo Glo HD back (it's quite the only thing that I can say for now), it's soft, rubbery and pleasing to the touch.

What I regret is the bezel, I like the flat screen of my Aura 6" (though, I read lots of people hate that flat screen, it well be the thing that I'll miss more on the Glo HD)

Awesome! I'd love the H2O but I don't want it that big, either! Make a 6" one, Kobo!

I like it. The naked Glo HD feels good in my hand. If I wasn't using it during my commute, I wouldn't bother with a case.

I disagree with the reviewers, the build and feel is wonderful. I love the bezel (in the sunlight it has a faint sparkle!) and I love the look and feel of the back, as well!
