Before I go any further and "lose" some people who might be interested, these books are not just about old cars. They are miscellaneous automotive books about everything from muscle cars to motorcycles to farm tractors to general auto restoration.

All of the ebooks are only $5 each. This represents a markdown of up to 80%. I am somewhat embarrassed to say this, being the consummate frugal person that I am, but I paid $9 for one of these ebooks recently; I thought that it was a good deal then at that price.

George Orwell wrote a book on the Spanish Civil War? The George Orwell? I didn't know that. And he was a participant--as a Marxist? There are some real holes in my knowledge that, until now, I didn't know existed.

Students of history will know the Spanish Civil War to be a trial run for World War II for Hitler and the Germans. They supported the Fascists under Franco. The Germans had an opportunity to try out their new weapons, and test new battle doctrines and tactics. And people got to observe savagery and inhumanity by the Germans that would characterize much of their actions in that War. Their brutality in the bombing of the Spanish town of Guernica was immortalized in a famous painting by Pablo Picasso with the title of "Guernica."

This should be a fascinating read for several different reasons.

Thank you, GTrs8. it is a very interesting book, I actually read it while I was holidaying in Barcelona. A lot of the action took place there, and many of the buildings Orwell mentions are still standing. It shouldn't surprise you that he was a socialist if you read any of his non-fiction. I would recommend the Road to Wigan Pier as well.

Books seem to be legion on the subject that this book covers. Maybe this one says one or more things that elevates it above the others, however. Two things make me think that it does. One, it is rated very highly. Two, it is considered a classic in its field, according to the author's bio.

This is a not terribly good version of a public domain work which appears not to have been proof-read (there's a glaring error on the very first page!). In all honesty, I can't recommend it.
