It can be the light, but it seems to me that the Globo HD has more contrast then the Voyage.
Apart from the chapter heading (where the Glo HD looks better), I think the reverse.... although I'm not sure if its perhaps just the font on the Voyage I prefer

Either way, the difference is pretty minimal. Both look pretty good, which is great news for the Glo HD.

I feel the same. To me the text on the voyage looks slightly better than the HD. Of course, comparing in person would be best, but that's what my eyes see on the video. This was also my experience when I compared the voyage to the H20 in person, the text on the voyage was slightly sharper. I can't really imagine text being improved much over what the voyage is offering.

That said, the screen on the voyage looks worse in the video, same as it did to me in person. It's uneven to my eyes with a blue blotch in the lower part of the screen, whereas the Kobo screens (The HD and H20) look excellent, very even with a pleasant tone.

Tiny blue plastic tab?

Is anyone else with a Glo HD seeing a tiny translucent blue plastic tab coming from the inner edge of the bezel, near the top of the left hand side? At first I thought it was for an anti-scratch layer of plastic, meant to be peeled off. But it goes down into the bezel. Don't have it with me to try to photograph, and don't know if I could even get a good shot. I'm wondering if it's left over by mistake from the manufacturing process?

Coolreader does not yet work on 3.15. There's a thread on here dedicated to Coolreader. I would expect it to turn pages faster (when it works) but can't be sure. They'll fix the slow page turns in a later FW. In any case, nothing beats a rooted Nook ST

And that in a nutshell has always been my beef with them. Dang! I'd hoped they'd improved and gotten over that. Perhaps not quite yet.....

Well, the screen and the backlight are probably better than the NST

Is there a way to downgrade firmware back to 3.14 which (presumbaly?) doesn't have these issues? Pi sounds tastier anyway.

Most of us just wait before we update. Since I sideload my books, I really never turn on wifi unless I specifically want to get a firmware update.

I'm not sure the Glo HD can go below 3.15.0, I think that was the first firmware for it. So I'm not sure there's anything you can downgrade to in this instance.

Edit: It looks like 3.14.0 is for the Glo HD as well, but I don't think anyone actually got a chance to test it since during setup you're usually connected to wifi which downloads 3.15.0 right away.

They have 'frog in well' syndrome.

They are slowly getting better.

I'm attaching a couple pictures (hope this works correctly) trying to show this little tab described above. You can see it in the first picture above the top line of text; the second shows how it angles out from the bezel at about a 30 deg. angle.

Anyone else see something similar on the Glo HD? I'm tempted to try to yank it out with a pair of needle nosed pliers, but I'd first like to know why it's there and what the consequences of removal might be. (I tried just grabbing it with my fingers, but couldn't get enough of a grip to make it budge.)

That's weird. I definitely do not have anything like that on my Glo HD. That does not look normal. I'd call Kobo and see what they say?

Can you grab that tab with tweezers and see if it pulls off gently? Is it possible it's just the clear protective film they put on shiny pieces, that yours might have around the shiny small bezel?

That's odd and you definitely shouldn't be seeing it there. I would try using a tweezers like Ripplinger suggested to remove it.

I'd definitely ring Kobo first, just in case you damage the bezel somehow and void the warranty.

Suggest to Kobo that you would like to try to remove it, but ensure they will be held responsible for any damage.

I'm think Nate the Great was running 3.14 (at least initially) with similar results to 3.15. But it might have updated quick.
