Friend up the road has a broadband connection and let's me login to it. And no update through provider. Wifi only allowed.

Ok I didn't know could Only DL thru WiFi ... Which is more confusing since my Kindle Keyboard update either Wifi or 3G ?? I thought most phone companies were 3g or higher now.

For 99.9% of downloads, I can use either wifi or 4g lte data. Updating the OS seems to be limited to wifi only.

I wonder if Amazon will ever let the Fire Phone and the Fire Tablets share the same software? If not, this will be the only Fire Phone I'll ever own.

The bigger question is, will they ever release another Fire Phone?

I like it, but the critics on the tech sites still don't.

That's a good question. Amazon's two biggest mistakes when they released the phone were AT&T exclusivity and an outrageously high price for a crippled Android device.

I was really hoping the phone would give me a mini Fire HD experience, but it's not. It's like using a different OS; and that still holds true even after they updated it to Fire OS 4.

I agree, but maybe they are thinking it's a more phone like experience. Maybe they don't want it to look like a Fire.

It makes an awesome no contract phone!

I love mine. I have very little complaints. I can after update leave 4G on with WiFi. Battery life has doubled since update. It's a wonderful phone but my biggest complaint is overheating when traveling. I think it's the case causing it but not totally sure. Anyone else have their phone get hot when in the car?

I'm using my phone like Tubemonkey as a small fire tablet. This is definitely a first generation device! yes mine gets warm alot as well...?

The update seems to have added some goofy notifications that pop up on the lock screen. I turned them all off as soon as I located the settings.

I'm also having more trouble keeping a stable LTE data connection, but this could be unrelated, as I just restarted a data plan after not having data for over a month. Anyone else notice a difference?

I'm still very glad that I got the phone.

My data is working fine better I think. I'm with Straight Talk who piggy backs off AT&T for this phone. St Louis is AT&T country so I got full bars on everything. I had no idea when I bought this phone I'd be living here. I was in Verizon Country for 10 years. I got to get hubby a new phone now.

My phone will get about 110F in the Sun and GSAM will give me a warning to shut down. The navigation causes it to overheat quickly but I'd literally get lost without it.

No problem over heating except when charging. But even then its on 119 degrees. What Temp is it suppose to be? I use Clean Master ...looks like a broom.

I wish they fix the speakers. & give me a Male voice.

A definite first generation issue. I wonder if we will see a 2nd Fire Phone?

Ps. well at least if you can get hungry you can fry eggs on the back of the phone!
