Bricked Aura
Hi everyone,
I'm posting this for Alou38 who's not very comfortable using English. If I get it right, he bricked his Aura when he tried to install a wrong version of xsoaring. Everything stopped around 50% and now the screen is black and white (or goes black, then white, then black... not sure). NiLuJe rightly stated that the Aura has no intern SD memory so maybe an ISO image can't be used to restore the device. Any idea? |

After reading the google translated thread plus looking at the XCSoar code, a factory reset should work. The installation isn't replacing anything that would prevent this from happening. As the Aura doesn't have a second button, this is done by:
- Make sure the device is charged. - Ensuring the device is off by holding the power button down for at least 20 seconds. - Turn the device on but hold the button down. - Tap both the bottom corners of the screen. - When the restoring message is displayed, let the power button go. They might have to repeat this as the timing is important. When I tried this with my Aura H2O and Glo HD, it took me two or three tries to get it right. |

- Make sure the device is charged. - Ensuring the device is off by holding the power slider in the off position for at least 20 seconds. - Hold the light button down. - Turn the device on. - When the LED start to flash, release the light button. And checking the google translate of the thread, NiLuJe has made a comment about not thinking this would work, or at least the corner tapping version, because the software hasn't been loaded. But, this is happening earlier and is being caught by the kernel or bootloader or maybe even the hardware. As none of those have been changed by XCSoar, this should still work. |

Thank you Davidfor. So far he had tried several times without much success.
I hope he'll try again since you said that the timing wasn't easy to get. |
