I understand ,but there is no patch to disable this and use only the slider in the menu.
So that is why I memorised the setting in the menu itself, when i change the value bij accident, I can put it back to the level where it was on before. |

Just checking as this new update sounds amazing according to some people and terrible according to others. If I read only EPUB, is this worth installing?

I'm wondering if this is normal.
Kobo desktop has upgraded to 3.15 but my Aura HD has not. It is still on 3.12.1. Kobo desktop upgraded about four days ago. Also, will 3.15 get rid of the terrible ghosting I see whenever the Aura is awakened from sleep. If it's been asleep overnight (using a cover), when I awaken to read it I get a lot of ghosting from the book cover. It's really irritating. |

For hyphenation, I usually don't see it. I usually use ragged-right, so there is minimal hyphenation. When I do set the alignment to justify, or read a book that has it set, the hyphenation seems to be OK. I have just checked the above with epub. A quick test of kepub seems to show that the device will override all the alignment. |

EDIT : And you're right. Calibre sets the alignment in paragraph level.... This explains that... How can I strip the alignment with calibre ? (i'm pretty sure there was a "no justification" checkbox in the look and feel panel but i can't find it anymore. I can strip all text-align with css filter, but I only want to disable justification on the paragraph) Last edited by cramoisi; 05-04-2015 at 12:02 PM. |

So, bottom line.. I am on 3.12.1 with my Aura, and 3.13 on my H2O. I read epubs. Should I upgrade both, one (and then which one) or none ?

I've never bothered with the browser before, but wow, it's pretty awful hehe. It does a double flash after touching anywhere, it doesn't remember login info, but it does work to at least download a book from DropBox.
That's the only reason I tested it, to be sure my fail safe works in case I'm ever out and the reader locks up and I have to do a reset so I could go back to reading. I ended up creating a new much shorter email address just for DropBox and a pretty insecure short password (something I never do) just to make it more bearable to log in when needed. It's odd that the games are still there for the Glo with the 3.15.0 firmware, just not on the Glo HD. That almost makes me think they will add them to the Glo HD possibly in the future? I don't care either way, I never play the games, same like I never use the browser... I just read. |

Pretty strange... I'm also on H2O and I don't get the double refresh you mentioned.
![]() ![]() ![]() I've also checked the code and there's no embedded fonts. And also where have you obtained the file? I mean, it only has a .kepub extension. If I drop that file on my H2O it is not recognized as an ebook. I need to change it to the standard .kepub.epub if I want it to be usable. |

Has anyone tested this on the Kobo Mini? I don't have a µsd cardreader right now, so I don't want to try it out without a confirmation.

Re: your sample file, I'm not sure that embedded fonts are necessary to trigger the 'double flash' in kepub. I've also seen it in a test file of my own when there was css code like font-family: "Celtic", serif; and I didn't have a font named "Celtic" on the Kobo. ETA: I'm also not sure whether this is new in 3.15.0 as I didn't try this particular epub before upgrading. Last edited by jackie_w; 05-04-2015 at 03:34 PM. Reason: ETA |

Thanks for your explanation jackie_w. (I don't use the kepub converter but just Kobo Touch Extended driver and its conversion on-the-fly so I didn't know about it).
I've re-checked howyoudoin's book and in fact it sometimes uses font-family: Sans-Serif; in certain parts. But nevertheless I don't get the double refresh... (Kobo and its mysteries...) |

There's two things on this update that really annoys me:
1. a subtle flickering on the frontlight (almost) everytime I long press a word. It is only noticeable if the percentage is set around 20% or low, but I always read at 1%. 2. when I highlight a word, the menu still lingers on the screen for almost 3 seconds. Besides that, I think they improved a lot the selection handles: it's much more easy to rearrange them. |
