I'm not a big fan of bugs either, although the larva tend to be quite tasty and very sweet, with the consistency of a stale marshmallow. I just don't like picking bug legs and wings out of my teeth, and the larva don't have 'em! On the other hand, give me a great big 'sea bug' (Lobster!) and I'm a very happy camper!

Drinking a large Mango/papaya/passion fruit smoothie right now as dessert!

Haven't tried them. OTOH, I probably _would_ try them in the right circumstance. There's very little squeamishness here.

Came into the office yesterday to spend 3 days here. And found a whole new tin of Lion Mountain Keemun I had forgotten was here!!

Drinking some now. And very much enjoying it.

Good morning, everyone! It's peaceful and quiet in Chateau Stich this morning. Our house guest flew home last night and it's back to just the two of us... humans, that is. He was a perfect a house guest as anyone could ever wish for, and never felt intrusive. A real pleasure to have visiting. But it's nice to have our space back once again.

This morning I'm drinking my new Ceylon tea again. Good brew! Nephew spent his last two hours before leaving for the airport helping me refill all my tea bags. I'm no longer limited in choices. Yippee!

Eating the larva didn't take too much pressure. They are sold in every market and outside every public school. The kids prefer them over chocolate, and they really are very sweet. But looking at a plate of large (1"- 2" long) beetles with legs and wings sticking out... I really have to be hungry to want to eat those. Small fried grasshoppers, if you pull off the legs and wings first as one is supposed to, really taste rather like burnt popcorn. However... give me burn popcorn instead.

The last time the 17 year cicadas broke out around here (2013 -- we're in Brood II territory) there were quite a few articles written about how newly emerged cicadas could be eaten raw and tasted like cold canned asparagus. I saw plenty of newly emerged cicadas on my walks, but never tested that theory!

A large mug of Keemun Hoa Ya 'A', or at least that's what the vendor claimed it was. Personally, I was always a bit suspicious of that claim, since it didn't really have the quality level I expected of a top-rank Keemun. But, like almost all Keemuns, this does seem to have aged and improved. I've had it sitting in a tin in the back of the cupboard because I was so disappointed with it, but pulled it out to try it one last time to either pitch it or drink it. Better than I remembered, I think I'll be drinking it.
