The extended driver is another issue. I haven't touched it to work with this driver as no-one has asked. I'm pretty sure I know what to do, but don't want to do it if no-one uses it. The Kepub Output plugin can create kepubs using a conversion, so getting the extended driver working isn't not completely necessary. |

I would like a H2O too, but alas, my Aura HD seems indestructable. ;-)
I even use it in bath, sometimes water runs over it because of the steam, I keep it without in a case in my bag when commuting or biking, except for some minor scratches it is great and has never let me down once. Love it, and when it breaks, no doubt completely my fault, I will buy another Kobo without another thought, the Glo HD or the H2O. All I wish is that it would also be possible to browse by author instead of books per author. Last edited by dura; 04-28-2015 at 09:42 AM. |

It would be too big with descriptions but I also have "category" catalogues with descriptions. For those 2000+ items on the device I also frequently update the "set related books" recently added to Kobo Utilities. |

I love my H2O. I was so sad that my Glo died (broken USB port) and getting a better device helped a lot.
I love its crystal clear display and snappy pageturns. I love the even light quality which I can adjust with a flick of a finger. It feels a really solid device. I love that it is matt. I love that it doesn't have any nasty white logos on it. I have mine in a Fintie case, which is also grand and a lovely deep purple colour. It fell from a chest height set of drawers next to my bed in this cover and laughed off any damage. The two tiny things I miss from my Glo are: - The H2O is bigger and therefore it does not slip into my bag quite as well. My boyfriend keeps asking how many handbags I really need. I need to keep buying them because I haven't found the one that can handle the handcream, the keys, the phone the hand sanitiser, the umbrella, the work keys, the moisturiser, the mints, the purse, the pens, the lip balm, the notebook AND the H2O with ease. Perhaps the h2O induced handbag purchases are an advantage. The size also feels a bit blocky, sometimes. I'm a girl. I don't have huge hands. - I used to have my Glo in a neoskin soft case with a bit of padding to it (it had owls on it. I liked that case). Sometimes, if I hold my h2O for too long, it digs into my palms for a bit. I miss the padding from my old case. Can't find one to fit the bigger profile. Hmm. Still, the bigger size does mean a better reading experience. My niggles are a trade-off. |

The past few years, my book reading practice has been shamefully lacking. I love books, but have found paperbooks to be cumbersome and somewhat tiring, and my giant 6.4" Xperia Z Ultra, while a great LCD display, is far from ideal for book reading, especially since I'm easily distracted by notifications and apps. Of course, reading it in bed also destroys melatonin levels, and it's just impossible to use outdoors.
Seeing my friend's Paperwhite 2 convinced me that an e-reader is the way to go. After reading feedback from you lovely folks and considering its big, clear screen, its waterproofness, and the open nature of Kobo readers, I decided on the H2O - and boy, am I in love, too! An incurable tinkerer, I'd installed KSM, Koreader and the pbchess package before even opening a book, and I'm just thrilled with its capabilities now, both in hardware and software. Books are a joy to behold on this device! I can tell this device will help me enjoy reading for years to come, and I'd like to thank Kobo and this community for that! I got my H2O the day before yesterday and I really love this coming from a 2012 Kindle.
One bad thing though - the H2O I got have this bleeding light problem. I already wrote the Italian reseller about this and I hope we find a solution soon. Other than that it's a great device! Loved my first H2O. Then dropped it on a concrete sidewalk and broke its seal, which I discovered after my next swim with it.
Bought a second one and the sleep cover/case to keep it safe. |

I too have those LEDs showing through at the bottom. I've always considered that normal. If they were pushed any lower down to hide them, the lighting across the screen would not be as uniform as it is now, I reckon.

Regarding the LEDs - it's not only the LEDs showing (I could live with that) but between the LEDs it shows on the screen as an yellowish tint or like small yellow rainbows between the LEDs, the light isn't uniform at all at the bottom of the screen and it's quite distracting when reading. From what I've read in here the light should be the same color all over the screen and that is also what I would have expected from a $200 device (the price in Europe). If this is normal for Kobo I really should have bought the Kindle Voyager instead which is only $11 more expensive.
I don't understand the argument that the LEDs need to be visible to light the screen - as far as I know there are also LEDs at the top of the screen and those I can't see at all. |

I can't really see the LEDs on my H2O when actually reading, I can see them if I tilt it at a rather strong angle which makes reading virtually impossible.
However the odd coloration and rainbowing are things that I don't see with my H2O. |
