I've now upgraded to 3.15.0 and KMS07.

How does the "configure" option work? I tried adding something in the [geometry] section, but there was nothing to add. I removed the usersettings.txt, as in the first post it says it would be re-created, but it isn't. How can I manually input my geometry settings? Can I set KSM to alternate between starting itself and going directly to nickel, as with previous versions?

Damn! Now nickel ignores the SD card. I can browse the contents from KSM, I can mount the SD while in nickel, fsck says the card is OK, and yet all the books in the card have disappeared.

I have reinstalled 3.15.0 to get rid of KSM, and the card is back.

Ok, so if a new Official Kobo update is released, and KSM is in use, use the "Partial Update" option to NOT overwrite the currently configured KSM?

Is there a wiki or FAQ that explain the options of the KSM07 Menu, so
I don't have to bother tshering so much

You would add those "key=value" pairs that you would like to choose from in .adds\confoptions\ksm_ini_options.txt under [geometry]. Have a look at the other sections. The [geometry] section is the only one I did not provide any example entries. For some general informatin on the configure option, cf. this post.

Right, usersettings.txt is not any longer recreated, since this file has been replaced by ksm_ini (with update 2). ksm_ini should only be edited with the help of the (home) "configure" function.

You can. It is a little hidden: (home) tools > activate > set runmenu settings.msh > alternate_nickel (there is no response that would confirm that the value has been accepted, you will only note the change after restarting the device.)

I do not know the cause of this. I just tried inserting an sd in my Touch (FW 3.15.0), and it was recognized immediately by nickel.

The first post of this thread contains links to (some pieces of) information. If I find time, I will add more. As for the specific information on the update options, you can find them in the menu itself. When you enter the "handle update" menu, the first option is "info." Poke on it, and find the explanation.

I did, and it's working now. Now I have the booting up alternate between nickel and KSM, if it happens again I'll see if KSM has anything to do with it.

What are the geometry settings referred to on Post 19 of this thread referring to?

When I initially installed KSM and saw the post, I added them to the usersettings file, but was wondering what they are for.

By these settings you can define the position and the dimensions of the application on the screen. To give you an example: The screen of the Kobo Touch has a resolution of 800 x 600. Automatically, the KSM applications are drawn, starting at the left top corner of the screen, and filling the whole screen. This would correspond to the following setting.

ksmGeometryValuesN=600x800+0+0 (<width>x<height>+<Xoffset>+<Yoffset>)

If you set the values to ksmGeometryValuesN=600x600+0+0 the application will cover only the top three quarters of the screen, and the fourth quarter will be left.

If you set the values to ksmGeometryValuesN=600x600+0+200 the top quarter of the screen will be unused, and the application will cover the remaining 3 quarters.

You can set these values for each orientation (North, East, South, West). North is the standard orientation (this is when you hold the device so that the power button is on top.)

This option has been introduced, because on some models (e.g. Aura) part of the screen is covered by the bezel (as a result a small part of the KSM applications is hidde behind the bezel). The geometry settings give you a means to correct this. I tried to preset these geometry settings for the concerned devices. So hopefully (since update 2) you do not need to bother about these settings, except you like to achieve some special effect.

Did anybody try KSM 07 on Glo HD? I am asking because I am planning to publish the next update, and if there is something to adjust for Glo HD, I would like to include these changes now (if they are easily done). Geometry settings could probably be a candidate.

If for some reason KSM does not work on Glo HD at all, wait until nickel (the original Kobo GUI) is started automatically after 20 seconds. Then connect via usb to your pc and delete the folder .adds.

Thank you Joep for this nice offer. It would be rather difficult to make KSM multi-lingual. The reason is that a large part of KSM consists of script files, and a lot of the menu entries are generated from the names of these script files. That means I would have to rename the script files and change all references to them for each language, and this would lead to further complications. Especially since there is no stable version.

Therefore, at least for the moment, I am not planning to go in that direction. But thank you again.

First of all, thanks for this awesome piece of software, it works like a charm.

Now to the point. Yesterday evening i was wondering, "wifi" menu has some wget scripts and i thought i could make it wget my books. But i'm so bad at scripting so the only thing i've achieved is exit_code=1. So here's my first question - is it even possible to do so? Like make a script that would wget books from, for example, http://192.168.1.2 (there's a HTTP server running HFS, generates a webpage with links) to some specific folder, like /mnt/onboard/.books/wgotbooks? If it's possible - could you possibly assist me in achieving this?

And second question - could i possibly "rename" the menu strings? I don't really like "start vlasovsoftlauncher" line and would like to shorten it to "start coolreader". Just a cosmetic thing but things like that always make us feel more comfortable, right? To do so - should i rename some script or is it not that easy?
