why not use send-to-kindle email documents route & let amazon do the conversion for you- I think you can email PDFs . if they can't do a decent conversion then you probably need to find a different source.

Sometimes it's not so simple. I mean if you want the TOC aligned in the center with spaces between the chapter headings for example a simple send to Kindle won't put that in. You have to edit the document in a program like Sigil (after converting to epub) or in the edit window of Calibre before converting to Kindle format.

ok - my point was that send to kindle will give you a quick easy ideas of how good any conversion from PDF is likely to be.
sure you can do batter if you put in much more work & tweak other software...

pdf is the shittiest format to convert from, if you gonna buy /download books you want to convert, get them as epubs if possible.

Good advice though not all epubs are easy to fix either. Some I've gotten from PG have given trouble when I tried to fix them before conversion to kindle.

ah yes, I've heard of that, I did not recognize it by it's initials PG though -

my brain was suggesting Proctor & Gamble , & google suggested also a brand of tea, or a film classification; I could not get a book connection

luck strike, the PG refers to Pelham Grenville Wodehouse, not actually project gutenberg

I only googled PG not PG +books. As the context was poor quality e-books, I thought maybe it was some torrent site like TPB
