Hmm, he may the model for the covers, but I do not think they look alike. Sure, in broad lines, but a lot of men look alike in broad lines. The nose and chin are not alike.

The artist is simply using 'artistic license' which consists of, at least in part, 'the addition of non-existing details, or exaggeration of shapes and colours'.

Cool South African cover for White Night!
I found this South African chain of book stores advertising White Night and displaying the below cover, which I'd never seen before. Also notice the name of the series in South Africa.

Don't get to see sounds like a blessing. Here in america we need philosopher translated to sorcerer, and apparently a hat on a wizard to recognize what it is. I am surprised there is no lighting shaped scar on Harry's forehead (Dresden that is). Makes you wonder though if Harry was supposed to have a different first name - and the editors made Jim change it to Harry for easier brand recognition.
