The light on my Glo HD is even and doesn't change colours over the screen. It is at least as good as my Aura H2O. But, my Glo was also very even. The only problems where at the bottom near the LEDs.

The driver for 1.48 should work with v2.0, but I haven't tested it. If v2.0 works for you on XP, then go ahead and use it. If you do have problems with connecting to a Glo HD, or Aura H2O, remember to post the full details of your configuration. I would prefer not to be supporting multiple configurations, so if someone has problems with this driver on a system that can be upgraded, the only response they will get is "upgrade calibre". But, for people with systems that can't, I'll do the best I can. When I was posting the driver, I knew people were using the early calibre v2.x on XP, and considered saying something about it but decided to leave it until someone commented. Someone has, so I'll support that configuration until something comes up to make it a bad idea.

All I can say is thank you!

I don't have the Glo HD yet but when I do I'll go ahead and use Calibre v2.0 with the plugin. If there is a problem I'll drop down to 1.48. I'm thinking of a new PC when Win 10 arrives, there will not be a problem then, at least with Calibre.

How do you like the Glo HD compared to the H2O in day to day use? Does the smaller screen bother you? How does it feel in the hand? Is it more comfortable to hold for a long time compared to the H2O? Is it noticeably lighter?

Whoohoo! Got my new Glo HD this morning! It came with two charging cords (1 Kobo and 1 after market) and no wall plug. Makes sense since electric plugs are so different around the world. I immediately turned it on out of the box and went through turning on wifi and connecting with my Kobo account. It's charging on my computer now and I've added the plugin from MR for Calibre 1.48 and transferred several books. An indicator light indicating full charge would be nice ;p So excited to start using it!

will post more later!

BTW has anyone figured out how to take advantage of the free concierge service offered with the KGHD?
How can I tell when the battery is fully charged with KGHD connected to my computer?

I'm supposed to decide between the Glo HD and H2O and pass either to my son. Though my wife might get in on the act. But, it's hard. At the moment, I'm carrying both with me and reading on the Glo HD going to work and the Aura H2O on the way home. The idea is to give me equal time and maybe come to a decision.

My first reaction was that it is tiny compared to the H2O. But, it fits very well in my hand. Just enough of an edge to grip and the back gives a nice grip without being distracting (The quilted back of the Touch also had a good grip but I always ran my fingers along the lines). It is very good to use one-handed. I use the H2O one-handed with no real problems, but the Glo HD is a little easier. I have reasonably large hands - my hand is a little longer than the H2O.

For the first couple of days I used the Glo HD naked (I'm talking about the ereader - I won't mention my state). I now have it in the case from my Glo. This is a cheap case but works well. The H2O is in an official Kobo case. The size of the Glo HD means I can put it in my pocket. This is good for my commute as it is a bus-train-bus and I can just put it into my pocket as I move between them. The H2O was is to big for this and I have to carry it.

The actual screen size doesn't worry me. It just means I have a few extra page turns for each book. The quality of the display is so close that any difference doesn't worry me. I think it's going to come down to the size convenience, unless someone else tells me which one they want

In their newest Glo HD and H2O comparison video they also say that there is no swipe to change brightness in the H2O *headdesk*. Take anything they say with a grain of salt and a shot of tequila.

I haven't even thought of it.

The battery icon in the top right corner gets updated as the ereader is charged. When full, it will have a tick in the middle. Also, the message displayed can be "Connected and charged", but that might only happen if the ereader was charged when plugged in.

Edit: And I just glanced over to the Glo HD and the message has changed to "Connected and charged". So it does updated, but it took a bit longer than the battery icon.

I had the same with my Aura HD,buying a normal Glo would look like a downgrade first,so my thought was: I order a Glo, if it isn't worth it,I'll send it back but now I am glad I bought both, the Aura HD is for downstairs reading, the Glo for in the bed, it is just a handy format, but sometimes I think: whish that the txt was so bright as with the Aura HD.
Now the Glo HD comes out, it would be perfect to have 2 devices near the same resolution.
So when the Glo HD arrives, the normal Glo will be the spare one.
For some stupid reasons I am never glad with something the first couple of days, always thinking,is that extra money worth it, you was satisfied with the old Glo,why a new one.. that will come ok in a few days

Oh, if you want to read naked, it is ok with me bro

Nate from the thedigitalreader has hinted that the screen or font rendering are not as good as the Voyage. Hard to know as he is holding back on publishing his masterpeice, urr, I mean review.

Unpacked my GLO HD yesterday and it died one hour after I turned it on. Still have not found out if they will replace it after spending the entire day communicating with KOBO. This is the last KOBO product I will buy.

I hate to ask the obvious, but did you give it a full charge before turning it on?

Yes, It was fully charged and spent the entire day yesterday talking to them online and on phone with no success. I am asking for a refund to return it to Kobo. I hope they don't give me a hard time.

I do love my mini and just wanted a lighted screen so I could read at night. Oh well...
