Is there a nuclear option for stuck PRS 300?

Yeah, it's the same old PRS 300 that I've had other problems with, but now it's stuck on "Opening book."

As I said it is stuck in "Opening book" when I turn it on. Then the only thing I can do to turn it off is hit the re-set button and flip the on-off switch. Right away then I need to hit the re-set button. Then it will turn off.

I have put a review in at Newegg, where I bought it, and they never posted it. And very recently they removed my version of the PRS 300, but they have another (with slightly bigger storage capacity) they are still selling. And look at the one review that ereader got. (see attachment)

So, look, I like the ereader. When it works, it's cool. I've got the A/C adapter for it. I'd really like to keep it. But I'm tired of wasting my time with it. So does anybody have any last chance, desperate things I can try before I pitch it? (And obviously if it gets wrecked trying them I don't care.)

And also the computer doesn't recognize the ereader any more so anything I try would've have to be on the ereader itself.

Dump it. It's old. These devices have a limited life-span.

Ha ha, Rizla. That's not what I wanted to hear (and probably what I needed to hear).

Or -- maybe -- pick one up on eBay. I had one of these for a while -- resold it. I found a manufacturer refurbished one for under $20, but it looks like prices have gone up since then. Still, it looks like you can get a working one for $25-$30 Buy it Now and probably less if you haunted eBay (and used AuctionSniper) for a week or two.

Here are some currently up for auction -- currently at about $10 (with shipping) but that will probably change before the bidding is over.

Check the listings carefully -- one of the "cheap ones" has a locked screen.

So do people. Would you say this to your mother? Or would you like to get this from your children?

Thanks rcentros. Hey, remember you turned me on to that Staples deal for getting a new Kindle for $29. This PRS 300 isn't worth spending any more money on. Newegg was selling them for $19, then they took them off the market. I've had two of them go bad already. Rizla is right. (But I'm going to contact you when I need a new computer, which may be soon, 'cause you get the best deals! LOL!)
