Are you kidding? EVERYONE participates! It's actually a religious festival! I do more 'getting' than 'giving,' which is why I use a small pistol rather than a 'super-soaker' that the majority carry, or some back-pack reservoir model, as I'm busy taking pictures, but I'm out there right in the middle of the biggest crowds, under the massive water cannons. It's 100°f outside, and there is no more enjoyable way to stay cool than a water fight with hundreds of thousands of other laughing, smiling people. Did you take a look at some of the YouTube videos? This video isn't mine... that's still under contruction, but it gives you a good idea. Add in hundreds of street-side food venors, and lots of drunks in the red-light areas, and you get the picture. Everyone is dressed for getting wet. No one ventures out who doesn't want to get wet. The party only runs between about 12-7 so if you need to go out for chores and don't want to play, there is plenty of time before or after.

There are only two down-sides to the holiday; there are many bandstands set up, unfortunately right next to each other and they all blast out their music at 140db. Secondly, many people add ice to their water buckets, and when you get a shot of ice water in the back, you know it...

Other than that, it's just thousands of very happy people, all having an outdoor party together, staying cool in the hottest part of the year here. Keep in mind that this is going on (but in a more modified version) ALL OVER THAILAND. Chiang Mai does it up special!

Feeling very relieved. There is a rather large packet of paperwork that goes hand in hand with my lawsuit. I've been looking for it for months. Today I bit the bullet and proceeded to tear things apart until I found it. And I DID! about 3 hours in w00t! It is now faxed and scanned to my attorney and scanned to me. Ahhhhh relief!

Looking at what to do in Antwerp. Currently the weather prediction isn't very good, so the Zoo is out. I've also been to most museums in Antwerp already so it's hard to find something to do. I'm thinking of taking the train to Brussels on Tuesday since I've never been there.

Enjoying the quiet.
It's been a very long time since it's been this quiet on Queen's/King's Night (the night before Queen's/King's Day). Usually there is a big podium on a nearby square and often there is also one around the corner. This year there is neither, also tomorrow there is nothing planned.

I've just packed for my trip to Antwerp tomorrow. I'm glad I decided to go by bus instead of by train because of rail strikes in Belgium.

My mother never watched more than a couple of episodes because of the strangeness. I will try to finish it, though.

I'm now all packed and waiting to go. I had to pack some extra stuff because I feel a cold coming on, hopefully I'll be able to keep it away until Thursday.

The show was so popular with Japanese viewers, travel agents were booking "Twin Peaks" tours, taking visitors to the town of Snoqualmie Falls, in Washington state. It was one of Japan's most popular tourist destinations for several years.

Twin Peaks gets far more bizarre as it goes on. Even today it remains the gold standard for bizarre. I loved it but didn't care much for the final episode. Hopefully when it returns to television the writers will remedy that.
