Curious. I've found the touchscreen on my Sony T2 (which is IR) to be comparable to or sometimes even better than that of my Kindle Voyage.

For those of you who have owned both Kobos and Sonys, do you find the touchscreen responsiveness to be comparable, or are Sonys more responsive than Kobos?

In the past I found the Sony better reacting then the Kobo, but I have gone seen my Sony beserk by a breadcrum, and in Greece a mosquito turned my pages several times with the Sony on the beach, attracted to the screenlight integrated in the cover, with the Kobo it sometimes miss a swipe and doesn't respond, then you really have to use a fingertip and then it starts reacting again.. so yes, I found I.R. more responsive but also when you just go over the edge with a nail,it starts swiping and like I said, when something is on the screen it flips,so both techniques have pro's and con's.

If I recall correctly I was debating weather the tape measure was closer to 89mm or 90mm and went with 90. It was really a toss up on which one I chose.

Does it really make a difference though at that small of a pixel if it's square or not?
Probably not, just an interesting thing that they wouldn't be. Sometimes it is interesting to wonder why they made the decisions that they did. I suppose almost 3,000 pixels less does matter to someone. They also fell just short of the 1080 standard number for HD screens.

As a Kindle-owner, Im thinking about buying the new Glo. Since I have no experience with other Kobos except playing around with them in a store, can u actually create collections inside collections on the Glo Hd? Something like, Fiction -> Science Fiction.

And more related to the Glo Hd, is the zooming still the same as with the Aura? I had the feeling it was pretty slow and clunky there. If its still this magnifier-function, is it at least faster?

My recommendation will be to wait until Kobo updates the software. It's not worth getting yet.

Not natively but David has in the past mused about a scheme for adding new USB ids to the driver in older versions of calibre, or you could run from source and add in the required USB ids to the driver in 2.0.

I wonder if Amazon has an exclusive for a particular type of e-ink screen so Kobo had to use one slightly different.

While their specifications show an 8 pixel difference, I should realize that 8 pixels are around 0,7-0,9 mm depending on whether it is vertical or horizontal.

This is not a difference human eye can notice by putting devices side by side. We simple are not capable of making that measurement without assistance.

But the thing about eInk is that it is weird, you cannot compore it to computer screen, pixels are not aligned. Kindle is below.

This is a Cybook:

They are weird, as you can see. Incidentally, this is also why you should not hint you typefaces as if you are hinting for computer screen. And why most typefaces render weirdly.

No version of calibre earlier than v2.26.0 will see the Glo HD. I have a separate plugin that I created to allow users stuck on the calibre 1.48 to use the Aura H2O. I will be updating that to add the Glo HD. But, it will probably be a few days before I can do that.

Guess it's time for me to also update Calibre, I don't do it every release (but I'm not really that far behind either).

That's ok, it'll be a bit longer than that before I get a Glo HD. :-)

I don't do much with Caliber besides convert and read would just toggling the ignore new type switch work?

No. The USB device ids need to be programmed into the driver.

Does that mean we can't use the extended driver (for converting to kepub) with the glo hd?

Most probably. But there is a driverless kebup output plugin, why don't you use it? It has better performance anyway.
