https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uK8YaBsKsgE Another comparison. This guy's much brighter and found the light switch. The two lights look comparable to me, but the genius doesn't slide them up and down. Oh well, in the land of the blind... Last edited by Rizla; 04-17-2015 at 10:11 AM. |

Capacitive and therefore Kindles should easily outperform Kobos in touch behavior. Specially because Kobo IR is not specially awesome... As I have already said neither AuraHD nor H2O "see" the stylus from my old Sony PRS-650... Kobo touch response is just good enough, but not something brilliant IMO. (But I still prefer Kobo's IR than Kindle's capacitive).

Nice video comparison. I still can't tell if the Glo HD has a button or a slider.
I wonder what font that Voyage is displaying? It doesn't look like a stock font, to me. |

![]() I guess the sleepcover of the normal Glo doesn't fit the Glo HD.. (Like printer cartridges, they always change them a bit so the profit comes from the cartridges, not the printer itself..) so that will again extra money.. Until now, they compare it with a Kindle, but i hope that they show like I said the contrast difference between a normal and the HD-Glo because then you can see if the difference is worth buying it. |

My biggest concern with Kobo is there after-sales support. After my Sony 650 failed after 14 months, I swore I'd never buy a new e-reader again. Sony support sucked. Apparently Kobo's does too. I'd buy it from a B&M store, so if there's a problem out-of-the-box, I could return it. Still, I'm uneasy. I'd have to check the B&M guarantee terms. I don't want to deal with am unhelpful and rude Kobo support person in the event of a problem. This is an area where Amazon are far better.

For IR touch stylus prefer cheap water color brush that cut off handle. Would be better to have brush that retracts into handle called a lipstick brush.

I asked at one of the biggest sellers of the Kobo e-readers in the Netherlands (Bol.com) and Belgium why it was not yet possible to pre-order the Kobo Glo HD.
The "helpdesk" answered that they didn't know when the tablet would be added to their collection and that I must visit the site frequently to see if and when the "tablet" was added.. Imagine, about 90% of all the ebooks they sell, and almost the total collection of the readers exists of Kobo readers and then they even didn't know what the Kobo Glo-HD for device is. This is gonna be a long hot summer before I can order it ![]() |

I haven't kept up with this thread but has anyone else received theirs yet? I just got home to find out my order from Staples arrived. I didn't think they were shipping until the end of the month?

First impressions. The screen is really nice and the background is more white than my old glo. Also a plus is that at 1% the light is dimmer than my glo at 1%. Also, the texture of the screen feels smoother than my glo screen.
I haven't really been active in is forum but if anyone has questions let me know. I'll try to answer them later today. I don't have much time right now to test it. Edit: Wow just loaded the same book on both devices and changed the fonts to be the same. The text is so crisp on the Glo HD. It's as if I just put on a pair of glasses and for the first time I'm seeing things sharp. The text on the old Glo is fuzzy in comparison and I can't believe I was reading on that just yesterday.
