On thing you can do with IR touch is you can move your fingers to the edge of the bezel without accidentally turning the page. This means you'll feel when you get to the edge and stop from turning the page.

There is a simple solution, sell the Voyage. But one thing though. The Voyage's value has dropped due to the Glo HD.

The sun here in the US is not weak and I've never had a problem using my H2O. Though granted, with all the snow we've had, I've not had that much time to read outdoors.

The h2o is my very first e-reader. I chose it because I thought the bigger the better. But although I enjoy it very much and read on it every day, I'm starting to think that it's perhaps a bit too big for me. Holding it with one hand for long stretches of time can get uncomfortable and awkward. I'm looking forward to the glo hd so I can try a smaller size. (I actually don't know anyone with an e-reader here). I'll keep the one I'm satisfied with and sell the other. I guess in the future I'll be a smarter buyer as I'll already know my preferences.

Excellent!

One issue with the search, or at least the last time I tried this, is that it only finds the 100 matches and it always starts at the beginning of the book. If there was a way to get the next batch of matches, this would be OK, but there isn't. If you want the 101st match, you are out of luck.
Seriously? Can you at least tap the 100th match, which takes you inside the book, then continue searching forward via the bottom bar "next" button?

Hopefully the problem has been sorted and we won't see it with the Glo HD.
I've obviously led a charmed life so far - no pinpricks at all with Glo, AuraHD, AuraH2O. Long may it continue

I totally agree. I actually posted in the Kindle forum, positive I was missing something, but apparently not.

It is 28°c here and it is midnight Sweaty all year round with annoyingly bright skies.
I've been lucky with UK weather; both times I was there in winter there was little snow and clear skies.

Anyway, because I'm in Singapore and using a third party forwarding company (in the US! so I'll be paying for 2! shipping fees; one from Canada to US and another to Singapore), I'll be waiting for first reviews. Especially since it is a new screen and not just an update of the old Glo.

Nope. If you hit the arrow to advance past the 100th searched item, it brings you back to the very first one. Ridiculous things like this make me miss my Sony 350 even more.

I must admit this shocks me.

This happens even with straight epubs? I thought Kobos used Adobe RMSDK for straight epubs, same as Sony and ADE. The search function isn't the same?

Kobo uses a newer version of RMDSK than Sony did. Kobo uses RMDSK equivalent to Ade 3.X. Sony mostly used RMDSK equivalent to 1.7.2 and in the T3, RMDSK equivalent to ADE 2.x.

But one thing to note, each company that uses RMSDK (regardless of the version) can make their own modifications.

Yes it is one of the "oddities" Kobos have... I think the other biggest ones worth mentioning are:
  • Nested ToCs are flattened. All the levels/entries are shown one after the other with any kind of distinction.
  • Page jumps (or their contrary, page jump avoiding) do not work in kepubs. They are just ignored. (They work in epubs as expected).
  • Widows and orphans are disabled in kepubs and sometimes buggy in epubs.

Thanks everyone for all the info. I'm really bummed. I was going to pre-order the GloHD today, but this incomplete search function really bothers me. Will need to give this more thought.

P.S. If the GloHD and Kindle Voyage had come out at the same time, I would have gotten a GloHD. But having already gotten the Voyage (which I love except for the search function), it's hard to justify getting the GloHD, especially since it won't solve the one problem I have with the Voyage.

For myself, knowing that Kobo's search works so badly bothers me more than the actual hindered use of it. It doesn't really happen often when you search for a word that occurs more than 100x in a book. I think it's actually only happened once or twice where I really could have used a proper full search through the entire book where it occurred more than 100 times. I just opened up my trusty Sony 350 and searched that way. It was while having to proof read a book, so at least I had a way around it.

And no, using the PW for a search never even entered my mind .

If you use Coolreader or Koreader, does the search function any differently and let you go beyond 100 items?

Why none of the GoodEreader reviews of the new Glo HD show/compare the light functionality ... ?
