I'll wait for the next gen Kobo premium model then. Getting the Glo HD now seems a redundant perchase for me since I just had the Voyage for 3 months.
But if this year's 2nd Gen Voyage becomes a 6.8 inches, 300 ppi, IR display and has physical buttons and keyboard, I'll sell my house to get 3. |

I wouldn't hold my breath on Amazon going up to 6.8". They've had quite some time to do so and haven't. I'm not sure about the rest of the world, but in the US Amazon's next biggest competition is Barnes and Noble, and while the Nook Glowlight isn't a bad device, the Voyage already has a higher quality screen, and B&N doesn't seem interested in releasing another eink device any time soon. Why spend money improving your product, when your competition has apparently given up. |

The Glo HD looks like a nice device, but I'm so used to the screen size of the Aura HD that to me the screen of the Glo is too small to read comfortably. And I've never had any issue bringing my Aura HD with me to a journey because of its size, so I'll pass on this one.

I'm anxious for the first users who get their hands on the Glo HD to post their experiences with it. I'm trying to hold off pre-ordering until then!
![]() I wonder if it will still create the vertical lines that start appearing when you read out in direct sunlight? Which wouldn't be a deal breaker for me in any way, the lines go away with a page refresh. Last edited by Ripplinger; 04-14-2015 at 02:24 PM. |

I can't decide if I should preorder or wait for first reviews. What if it's sold out!?
(and my brain argues that I have an old reader I can use regardless; or read a physical book) |

Just ordered the Glo HD as my first Kobo! Website shows it in stock, but the order button is labelled "preorder".
This is going to replace my first lighted reader, the B&N Nook Simple Touch with Glow Light gen 1. I use a PaperWhite gen 1 for my Kindle collection and the Nook for e-pubs. Nook lighting is so annoying that I'm replacing it even tho the shape of the Nook is the easiest to hold while reading while lying down. Looking forward to multi-language dictionary capability again since my Sony PRS650 needs a battery replacement (and has no light). All in all I'm very excited about this reader, the price is right and I like the upgrades from the Glo and hope this is as small and light as my "GlowNook"! |

By law, you can return it if it doesn't work the way I want it, we can't even pre-order them and have to wait until somewhere in june..

I wasn't aware that Kobo models had suffered from 'early defects' - at least of the hardware variety
![]() Nor have I experienced vertical lines in direct sunlight - maybe UK sunlight is too weak or too infrequent ![]() |

I preordered my H2O, no defects with it. I remember some folks had issue, but if I recall correctly they were of the standard variety which hit any electronic devices. Rather unavoidable, and not something that's likely to disappear in any production run.

Ya, Kobo does not have a reputation for a bad hardware batch to any degree. With the Aura there were probably a little higher than I would expect reports with light pinpricks, but even that wasn't very many. Nowhere near the inconsistent 1st batches that Kindle seems to have.
