Hi,
Kobo GLO HD seems very promising. But I have a question about the use of Regal technology (this technology provides a better refresh of the page without the black flash). Regal seems to be a technology provided by eink with its carta screens. Sony used it in its latest PRS-T3 and seems to be the most advanced in its management at the firmware level. Now Sony has gone out of the ereader business. Does anyone know about KOBO and the use of Regal technology in its ereaders ? thanks for your help |

I think the two companies all-encompassing "ecosystems" are what they have in common. It is that which will keep drawing people to the Voyage, but I do think they'll need to drop the price. |

I won't dispute that at all. I want a 3G Voyage so a price drop would appeal ![]() |

This comparison applies to Kobo and Amazon. Amazon is stable, simple(r) and closed. Kobo is more open and configurable. Saying that, they are both far more limited than the hardware allows. |

OFF-TOPIC: How many e-readers does one need? I am curious about this since much of the people here have 2-5 or beyond e-readers... I will understand 2 e-readers (but even that I can't really warp my mind about it completely) but 3 and more? I really want the Glo HD but I have ZERO justification in buying it except the wanting and wanting.... sigh #TooManyRichKidsHere Last edited by ryuji35; 04-13-2015 at 11:25 AM. |

I have a Nook Glowlight because I got it fairly cheap and I wanted to see their improvements. I bought a Kobo because of changes Barnes and Noble made to how we can access our ebooks. And because of features Kobo offered which no one else has yet even hinted at offering.
I've got a Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 Nook because again it was cheaper for me than another tablet of the same quality, though I hardly use it now. I don't read on my Nook Glowlight, despite the fact that I could load the same books on both devices without needing to change formats. |

I have three dedicated ereaders and a Fire tablet. I don't read on my iPads. A Kindle Voyage, my main reader, I read on that during the day and my Fire in the evening. A Kobo H20, because it's waterproof, And it syncs Pocket. I read on it in the bath and it will be used on holiday when by the pool or the beach. A original Nook Glow. This contains my fan fiction or the stuff I don't want anyone to see the cover of ![]() If I 'did' replace my Voyage with a 3G one I'd sell my wifi Voyage. If I need to replace my Nook Glow then that's what I when I would consider getting a Kobo Glo HD. If anything happened to my H20 I'd cry ![]() I work full time but should that change no doubt my ereader days of buying would be over. I also, where I can buy extended warrenties, or from places that give extra years, for example my Nook came from John Lewis last year for £50 with a two year Warrenty.
