Metadata priority when re-downloading metadata

Probably, never heard of removing All befor which is probably why the tool does not have that mode

For the life of me , I can't see a Gain by removing ALL.

ISBN is a very common
ASIN is, if you are into Amazon

Well like I said, I installed the Extract ISBN plugin. I want to clear out all the old identifiers (as these were probably gathered from the book's name which is not as accurate), extract the real ISBN's, then re-download metadata, and in theory this should give perfect matches down to the edition in the metadata download (though I think only Kovid could verify if this is accurate).

Makes some sense.
How it got that many wrong is a puzzle. The match (without Identifiers) should have been Author AND title.
Just getting the wrong edition is what I would have expected.

Maybe you should narrow down what EACH metadata source provides.
I have my preferences for covers and per field metadata

(I do wish I could turn off just 'Review' comments so I just got a synopsis )

You can do what you want, delete *all* identifiers, with S/R using template as a source. The screenshot below shows you how.

Be sure to back up your library.
