I would prefer a flush screen, but I surely would not sacrifice a better contrast or lighting for that.

Am I the only Kobo fan who can't stand the IR touch? It never worked on my Kobo mini, my late Aura was so much better.

Sorry I must have been seeing things, or looking at the wrong page Aura HD not Glo HD.

When I got my first Glo, I had horrible issues with pages not advancing when swiping, taking up to 4 tries to turn a page. And that wasn't a rare occurence, it happened at least 50% of the time. Just using a tap worked much more reliably, but it's just not a natural movement for me, I much prefer to swipe. I downgraded to a different firmware and the difference was like night and day, any missed page turns are extremely rare now. I've since upgraded to much higher firmware as well and the problem hasn't returned. It seems to be that particular firmware that was the issue, and not the infrared system.

In the UK we still can't view any official Kobo page but according to engadget when it does turn up here it will cost £110. I'll certainly be interested in seeing it in the flesh, but based on how long it took WHSmith to get the H20 that will be around Christmas. |

It has the same components as the old Glo/Aura 6". Probably more Aura 6". (forget that there is no mSD slot). IMHO, the only difference is the screen, which is updated to a Carta generation screen and has a higher dpi. And that is a good thing as the screen is probably the most important component. It proves that 1GHz processors are not equal. But I wish that Netronix had updated the CPU and touch responsiveness and accuracy as those are the weakest components of Kobo devices. On the otherhand, I do agree with you that the price is spectacular when compared to the Kindle Voyage. Which I found and find heavily overpriced. But maybe worth it or more convenient if you have bought most books through Amazon. Last edited by Anak; 04-09-2015 at 03:56 PM.

I'm actually indifferent to IR Touch vs capacitive touch. My PW2 is capacitive and my Kobo Aura HD is IR. Both of them work well for me. I like the pinch and zoom feature for increasing and decreasing font size--wish I had that on my Aura HD. On the other hand, I like the swipe up/down feature to adjust the front light brightness on my Kobo. Wish I could combine the features of each in both readers!

. The Aura6" has this feature. In practice I found it so annoying I had to switch it off in settings. It constantly confused my 2-finger-swipe to adjust light level with pinch-zoom. Maybe I needed to work on my technique

I think I might regretfully pass on this one. I loved my six inch Aura -- the size, the shape, the weight, the edge-to-edge screen. Then I got the H2O and I love that even more. My eyesight isn't the best, and the size of the H2O screen is perfect for me; there's plenty of room for white space at the top and bottom, in the margins, and between the lines. I gave my PW1 to my husband when I bought the H2O and a Voyage. I thought I'd use the H2O at home and the Voyage for carrying around. It hasn't worked out that way. The Voyage just doesn't work for me. I can't get used to the two-toned screen and my eyes seem to need a font size between the available ones. Most of the time I carry around the H2O; if I really want something smaller and lighter I carry the six inch Aura. The new Glo HD seems to be a not too useful compromise for me. I really wanted an exact copy of the six inch Aura but with a screen that looked as close as possible to the H2O screen while still being edge-to-edge. This may sound strange, but what color are the fonts on the h2o? I ask because I assume that the glo HD well be the same. My first generation glo fonts looked Smokey gray instead of black.(even after I tweaked the boldness of the font in advanced settings) I like the fonts black. In most comparison videos, the kindle fonts look darker. Thanks, Penny |
