Can I, as a Dane, buy my Kindl in Germany?

Hi everybody.

I'm a Danish resident living in Denmark. I have decided to buy a Kindl Paperwhite with 3G. It seems to me that Danes normally have to buy their Kindl from amazon.com and have it shipped to Denmark. With VAT, import duty etc. that would cost me $307. With the recent changes in exchange rates, it will be ridiculously expensive in Danish crowns.

Meanwhile in Germany, it only costs €99 + freight etc. http://www.amazon.de/dp/B00AG4KR2G/r...d_i=3645098031

However, I cannot buy the Kindl with my Danish amazon account, but I'm going to Germany in two weeks, where I am gonna stay at a friend's place. Will it then be possible just type her address as the delivery address and pay with a Danish credit card? And if possible, will I then experience any implications, when I take it back to Denmark?

Thank you in advance!

All the best.

(Moved to the Kindle forum).

The easiest way to do it would be for your friend to buy it for you, and you pay your friend. If she indicates that the Kindle is a gift, it will not be registered to her account, and you can then simply register it to your account. There's no problem at all with registering a Kindle in your own country that was bought in a different one.

Jonashau, even you should be able to buy Kindle on Amazon.de from your account using your friend's shipping address.

Just for info - there is a nice forward service in germany - mailboxde.com which will give you german address and then for a fee send your goods all over the world. Kindle to Denmark will be some 15€ but option with friend is better (cheaper)

please consider warranty ramifications before taking a plunge man...i too wanted to import a voyage to india from US but amazon.in outrightly denied warranty on the unit. i had to purchase a paperwhite only to be shocked that amazon.in released the voyage after a month here in india. they would not entertain a swap even if i agreed to pay the difference. would not refund, hence i was stuck with my pw2.

There wouldn't be a problem in this case. Buying in one EU member state and getting a warranty repair in another is no problem.

It's much easier. When you are in Germany, you can buy a Kindle at a local store, e. g. Saturn, Media Markt or Gravis. You will find one of these stores in almost every greater city.

Just go to MediaMarkt or Saturn in Flensburg on your way there or on the way back. Alternatively, I can also vouch for Amazon DE. I have bought several items there as a Danish resident with my Mastercard and I've had no issues returning items either. I imagine their RMA processes are equally easy.
