I knew it! I should've waited before buying the Voyage :'( I never believed that the high price of the Voyage is justifiable only due to the "HD Screen" but my mom bought it for as a Birthday gift so I relent. However, if only we just waited a couple more months...
Anyway, the SD slot is a must for me (at least in Kobo) since my old Glo's internal stopped working before and I relied on the SD card for additional books. Kobo's "latency" and lagging never bothered me but I can't help but say that I got used to the Voyage's snappy responsiveness. But for me, the price is the big issue here. If they made this right, I believe Kobo just killed the Voyage's "eliteness." I don't think Amazon will lower the price of the Voyage. It's their current premium reader anyway. The only option I see for Amazon is to call the current Voyage a "Paperwhite" this year and lower the price to PW price range and offer something very new in the next generation's "Voyage" Gosh, I feel bad right now. I want to have this Kobo Glo HD so much :'( Last edited by ryuji35; 04-08-2015 at 10:40 AM. |

You probably missed the sentence where I said And no, I don't want to make all my fall/winter/spring gloves weird looking by sewing on conductive thread myself to save money. Yeah, I really have no interest in doing that for 20 pairs of gloves, especially on $50+ pairs of gloves for the really cold weather. |

Does Michael Kozlowski know something we don't? I ask because in at the bottom of his article regarding the Glo HD he mentions in the comment section that "he knows that the Mini 2 is coming out soon"
I would like to believe. Anyhow, the article is here: http://goodereader.com/blog/electron...ilable-may-1st |

I am thinking really hard about preordering the glo hd. My only quirk is that I remember all to well when using my glo and having multiple page turns. I also like how send to kindle has my fan fiction on my kindle in seconds.
Then, I look at the fact that I could have the resolution I want on the glo hd and get the cover included for less than the voyage with no cover. I also think that the battery life on the Kobo should be better because it has no haptic feedback, no page press sensors. I'm going crazy trying to figure this one out. 😫 I can feel it...I will likely pre-order. Lol Penny |

In my case I made an extra entry on calibe with "read" on it, I transfer about 50 books to my device and when I have read them I remove them, setting read on yes in calibre. I don't want to move in my library only to see a couple of hundred books on completed. If I want to read them again I go online and retrieve them, or just put them back. So the possibility, or the lack of it,to put an SD card in it (the system sometimes start to be very "laggy " too when accessing the card) is never something I would use to make a choice. Most important is battery usage and the resolution. The old Glo had 2 GB, the new one has 4 so it's storage is doubled. Suppose I want to put all my books on it,and the device crashed or is stolen,I lost them all,and when you Use Calibre as a backup to get your books safe, you can always use it for a "refill." That only time in 2 months or more I need to finish and reload the next stack of 50 books on it will never take this 4 GB, it will not even come near the 2 GB. I do understand that some people will have their entire collection on a card to use them, just because it is possible, but does it make it more easy to handle it ?? I mean it in general ? Even with the Sony's I never felt the need to use a memory card, with 4 GB on it,the much bigger resolution and the longer battery usage is much and much more important for me then the possibility to use a memory card. Beside that, you can access your books by dropbox,by your account on the bookstore so even when in an impossible case I read more then the 50 books on it, I have easy access to my other books. |

You only have easy access to your Calibre library if your PC is near and on. I don't have my PC on all the time and when I'm away it's not with me.
And on holiday I don't even have wifi access, plus I find downloading from Dropbox a pain. |

I was only acting on one of the reasons to say no to this device: The (maybe) not present card reader. The choice between ,lets say a 200 dpi reader with a card reader, or a 300 dpi reader without card reader for me would be simple, the screen is what you see, every time you read... the menu or the card gives more comfort in use,but the screen gives you so much more then this. If the choice would be 150 euro's for a 200 dpi and card reader, or 200 euro's with a 300 dpi screen and no card reader, I still would choose the 300 dpi, because the screen is what you watch every second. But lets get back to the device itself ![]() |

My Calibre library lives synced in my VPS, my smartphone and my Macbook. Mainly for data protection, but reachability is nice too.
