No, when one deals from all eleventy sides of the deck, sure one provides one's customers with some reasonably impressive munitions, but only a complete and utter moron would supply a potential enemy with weapons of mass destruction (especially the ultimate weapon of mass destruction). So, do not fear to have "wasted" my inventory, any more than "wasting" ammunition - you are simply ensuring that production continues (it generally being standard military thinking that, if you shoot something and it remains completely unharmed, shoot it a lot more). You are contributing to profit! Keeping the wheels of the economy (well, my economy) in motion. Meanwhile, I keep the big guns (or, rather, the small, specialised, enhanced, indestructible, ravenous, unstoppable, waves of universe-munching, furry fecundity) to myself. Everything else is just supply-meeting-demand, at a very reasonable price ("reasonable" to me, that is). Incidentally, I just baked some puppy-cookies (made from the livers of some MPAA and RIAA executives). Do you mind if I treat your heck-hounds? Quote:

Wow. Look what I missed because of the ice storm. It's tragic! It's terrible! It's terribly dramatic!
(Anyone want to clue me in as to what happened to DixieGal? Not that I'm criticizing-- never!) Anyhoo, for those who don't know, we got socked with an ice storm last Thursday night that left 300,000 customers without power in tiny NH alone (including us, of course). Presumably the two trees lying across our road, powerlines etc pinned neatly underneath, had something to do with that. Or maybe the utility pole at the end of the road, snapped in two places and dangling cables precariously over the intersection, had something to do with it. It's a good thing we have a wood stove with a cooking surface. Now we just need a hand pump for the well. ![]() I'm back at work today (the campus has power, even if my house still doesn't, and the university has kindly opened the shower facilities of its gymnasium to local residents) but trying frantically to catch up with the paper I was supposed to write over the weekend, so it'll still be a few days before I can participate much in MR (or anything else fun). But I wanted to wave "hi" to everyone, at least. ![]() Now, I really need to go make a pot of tea. |

Well, he's not really *my* Marc, in any sense of the term, but if you say so .....
Ok, I'm running, I'm running. Care to take a jog through our 1 degree Farenheit temperature? That's -17 degrees Celcius. My dog walk was fairly short this morning. But I'll run as far as need be, to assuage The Dixie Gal. Quote:

Watch out when you feed Fluffy. Chinese food gives him gas that will singe the lands and render the rivers foul as he bounds houndlike across the world, trailing noxious fumes and desolation in his mighty wake. Yada yada yada etc. |

I know it was scary and caused all sorts of problems, but honestly, the pics of the ice coated trees and bushes are very beautiful. Looks like a fairy land rendered in glass. Glad you were able to check in and let us know you are OK! |

I'm going to try to get a shot of the utility pole at the end of our road tomorrow. Snapped in two places- but not quite all the way through in either. Something to do with eigenvalues and the distance between the pole and the two trees that fell across the lines (and the road) early Friday morning, I'm sure. If I can't find a working camera, I'll at least try for a sketch, but the image is quite impressive. (And that pole has a lot to do with the fact that I am secretly camping out in my office tonight to finish a term paper, rather than sleeping at home with my cuddly husband. ![]() |

We are expecting an ice storm to hit here tomorrow or very late tonight. It's about 29 degrees F at the moment, and supposed to drop down to 26 or below by morning. The forecast shows either freezing rain or snow.
However, by the weekend, it is supposed to be 77 degrees. Meanwhile, I guess that means I won't be painting my bookshelves for the next few days. I hope they are ok out on the porch .... I may see about pulling them in as close to the house as I can. |

Right now I'm recovering from having a tooth pulled today. Im not too sure what is worse, the original pain or the medicine to ease the pain. Time to fold my tent and turn off the light. See you all tomorrow.
