I looked into it when it first rolled out....the selection is limited (at least compared to things I normally pick up at the grocery story). And anything I might have liked to order seemed more expensive via this method. Maybe I mostly buy my favorites when they're on sale, and Amazon isn't offering those "loss leaders" that grocery stores use to lure us in.

My local grocer isn't all that creative/complex. Over the years, I think I've actually memorized the various sale "cycles," so that I pretty much know what to buy on what particular day of the month by instinct.

I don't think I've paid more than $6.99 for a 2lb tub of name-brand coffee for a year or more.

I made a purchase the other day, and received the Prime Pantry offer.

Since then, the offers have returned to the $1.00 for eBooks and download songs.

So I guess they don't want me to stockpile the Prime Pantry discounts!

Actually, I just did a dummy order to see what I got offered. Either the Prime Pantry thing was a limited-time thing or the response was underwhelming. Amazon is back to the $1 digital freebies. Time to find something to buy.

Oddly for me the "no rush shipping" option has disapeared entirely. I can choose between "Free two-day shipping" or "free standard shipping" with no mention of any perks at all for using the slower option. Strange

I had the same thing happen on a couple of pre-order items I tried to order. When I tried to order a straight-from-the-store item that's when I got the slo-mo option.

I gladly took the Prime Pantry option the other day as it's, IMO, the best way to buy the frequently used consumables -- but the shipping has always been what stopped me. I'll now be making another Pantry purchase, which was probably exactly what they were hoping. :-)

My Prime Pantry free shipping offer expires today.

I found a few small items that would be nice to have, but nothing less expensive than what I can buy locally.

So I am going to give it a pass. I suppose that if enough people ignore the free shipping offer, management will take a hint and do something to make the Prime Pantry service more appealling.

Same here... started to put together an order... was kind of a pain... gave up... let it expire.

Too bad, as I was kind of excited to get that one.

A very different response than my previous one... strange. My previous one was posted after putting together a few orders with success... but it just became a burden.

I just got a $2.00 credit, and it's still for eBooks, digital music and videos! I read an article recently that it's costing Amazon a lot more for shipping than it used to, and the $2 credit seems to confirm that.

Well, blow me down! I placed an order as a test and sure enough the offer is now $2 per order with no-rush shipping! Thanks for the heads-up.

You're welcome! I have to see if there is anything else I can order!

Interesting. Oil prices have been creeping up, but nothing like they were a couple years ago, so I'm surprised. I'd think Amazon was so large a customer that they could virtually dictate terms to the shipping companies.

Nonetheless, the quick shipping is the main reason we pay for Prime, so I'm still not sure if even $2 for a video is enough to get me to forgo it.
But maybe.

But $2 for an ebook is great. I ordered a Plastic Spaghetti Measure when I didn't see one at the supermarket and it was only $4.41and I didn't need it right away. I got it for $3.31 with the $1 credit, but it could have been $2.31.
