It is really interesting to see how tools change the way people write, both in code and human language. Although I guess don't have all that many human-language instances... Text message novels? Tools definitely change the ways people code though -- I know that my friends who use Eclipse write veeeery different code from the ones using nano . I'm sure Emacs affects me too, although I notice it most when writing XML, the way the nXML editing mode includes a RelaxNG validator and dynamically highlights markup errors just like spelling errors. Completely painless!

I know just enough html to change my font color and post the occasional link (which I get right 5 times out of 10 ), and I can even tell that's a mess.

Reminds me of the error message I occasionally get at another site I frequent - and the admins using Word at that site would explain a lot...

I normally hate websites that heavily rely on Flash(tm), but I'm rather taken with this 404 page: http://www.bluedaniel.com/404.shtml

Although that might be because I've only seen it by itself and not in any context (beyond some-one e-mailing the link to a list I'm on saying "404 page of the day")

heh. i kind of like it actually. it used to be just an image, not animated, and i took a copy of the color bar code and put it on my screen.
