![]() I really enjoyed (combination of Kindle & audiobook) the first in the series, and just started on the second. The setting is St Mary's Historical Institute, where historians go back in time to witness important historical events. There's quite a high level of danger (they often come back wounded, sometimes dead), but the tone of the first book is light-hearted, with plenty of humour. It appears to be set in the future (there's mention of things like data cubes), but it's never specified exactly when, and the technology isn't very important to the story. |

There is another freebie by Jodi Taylor at Audible: Little Donkey, a Short Story.
The blurb: It’s Christmas, and Jenny Checkland is beset with problems. The vicar, who really should know better, has asked to borrow Marilyn the donkey for the nativity play, thereby unleashing chaos on the already chaos-laden Frogmorton Farm. Will Marilyn survive her bath? Will anyone survive Marilyn’s bath? Robbed of her role as the Virgin Mary, what revenge is the angel Gabriel plotting? Why is that sheep so fat? Will Charlie ever get to say his one line? Can Marilyn be prevented from eating the baby Jesus? The link: http://www.audible.com/pd/Fiction/Li...ook/B00UNI8BDW |

Are there any current Audible membership deals for new members? I was talking to a friend at book club last night who wants to join. Thanks!

I think blanket recommendations are the next thing to useless; just the same I'll say that one of the books in the promotion, Matterhorn, was one of the two best novels I listened to last year. |

Any Ursula Le Guin fans out there? This weekend Downpour has the Hainish Cycle on sale for $3.95 a piece. If you're interested take a look here. Don't forget, it's called the Weekend Spotlight for a reason.

Audio of Biography/Testimonial of the NY Yankees' Bobby Richardson--$5.98.
At Amazon you can get the Whispersync audio companion of Impact Player: Leaving a Lasting Legacy On and Off the Field, by Bobby Richardson and David Thomas, for only $4.99. The total cost of ebook and Whispersync'd audiobook is only $5.98 ($0.99 + $4.99).
The running time is approximately 8 hours. The narrator is Bill DeWees. My posting of this book does not necessarily mean that I endorse any doctrinal positions taken in the book. Last edited by GtrsRGr8; 03-30-2015 at 10:11 PM. |

For example, many of the daily Audible deals, which usually are $1.95 to $4.95, are on audiobooks which have regular prices of $14.95 or over. I probably buy one every two weeks or so, myself. If you take advantage of a Whispersync deal, you may pay only a few dollars for the audiobook, which normally is $14.95 or higher. If you borrow a Kindle mobi book from a library that has a Whispersync audio companion, you can get the reduced price for the audio while the book is loaned to you. I'm missing probably several other obvious situations, but I'm sure that you see the point. It is possible to spend $20 or less and qualify for the free $10. |

For fans of stand-up comedy, the current Humble Weekly Bundle Stand-Up Comedy presented by Comedy Dynamics contains a mix of audio & video routines and specials by noted US comedians, including the apparently highly-influential late Bill Hicks (Wikipedia).
There's also a freebie album download for Andy Haynes' Greatest Hits in return for your email address, which you'll have to pick up separately from the bundle, as it's not included. Anyway, the HB which expires tomorrow, April 2nd, at 11 am Pacific Time, seems like rather good value if you enjoy the genre. Current better-than-average price is just under $7.50, at which point you might as well splurge for the $10 top-tier, which also nets you a documentary film in addition to 3 more comedy specials (the doc is included as part of the 3rd). The audio albums are available as MP3 & FLAC downloads, the videos are available in a number of different resolutions, and apparently can be streamed and direct-downloaded (if you have a good connection that's not prone to interruption, as there seems to be no Bittorrent option for these), with subtitles for some of them. WS Companion Deal on The Leonardo Trait--$4.98. Qualifies for the B4G10 Promo!
PLEASE READ: This is my last post of a Whispersync companion deal, unless I learn that people actually are benefiting from this kind of post. I've only received one comment, that I remember, over the last 10 or so WS companion posts. It's just too much trouble to post them, what with me posting an average of 4-5 books a day on other threads (mostly), when I don't even know if anyone gets any benefit out of them. I'm not fishing for compliments, karma, thanks or anything else but information--I just want to know if people are deriving benefit from these posts. I'm sure that you can understand. Thank you.
At Amazon you can get the Whispersync audio companion of The Leonardo Trait: How Creative People Can Turn Creative Eccentricity into a Life You Love, for only $1.99. The ebook's marked down right now to $2.99, so the total cost of ebook and Whispersync'd audiobook is only $4.98 ($2.99 + $1.99)! Because the regular price of the audiobook is over $14.95 ($19.95, to be exact), it qualifies as an audiobook purchase under Amazon's current B4G10 promo. What's The Leonardo Trait about? Here's a description, from Audible: If you're constantly being told to "settle on one thing," informed that you should "finish what you start," and fed that biggest of lies, "Jack of All Trades, Master of None," The Leonardo Trait is for you. If you are ready to embrace your creative nature, focus on all your interests in a way that works for you, and become a Jack of all Trades and master of ALL, The Leonardo Trait audiobook is for you. If you're ready to maximize your creativity, and your life, to create a life of abundance, to become more of who you were meant to be, The Leonardo Trait is for you. The Leonardo Trait introduces, expands on and coaches readers through living the idea that profound creativity, multiple passions, and saying yes to everything and to life are incredibly normal and not an aberration. While not everyone shares this way of thinking and living, many people do - and The Leonardo Trait is a user manual for these people and the sometimes frazzled and confused "Straight Liners" who love them. The Leonardo Trait is an audiobook for creative people who feel that their creativity is not just unusual, but bizarre, or even sometimes a little crazy. These are the people who are embarrassed by their brains at times - and there are far more of these people than "Straight Liners" realize. We recognize each other, and we're always relieved to know we're not alone. That's the purpose of The Leonardo Trait, in fact - just to say, "You're not alone and there's nothing wrong with you." The running time is 7 hours and 35 minutes. The narrator is Brian E. Smith. |

If the time spent posting is a factor, personally I don't need the expanded info you provide. Just the title and price are enough to make me decide if it's worth looking at more closely. |
