Just wanted to let you guys know that I finally have the mold problem in check. I am using a dehumidifier and the room air purifier.I placed few books which had mold in a container with activated charcoal and baking soda which did the trick and for maintenance this combination of air purifier and dehumidifier seems to be doing a good job.I am trying to maintain the ambient relative humidity at below 45%.

If you notice the picture here there is a lot of dust trapped in the filter fiber of the air purifier. I just took it out for cleaning.

Thanks for the follow-up. I suspect that it's the humidity that's the vital bit. If the conditions aren't right, the mould can't grow, whether or not there are spores in the air.

I am sorry I wasn't aware of that. I shall take note henceforth.

Thanks for the earlier suggestion. Like you suggested I used both the dehumidifier and air purifier.

I read mold requires humidity level higher than 55% to grow. The dehumidifer helps with that bit and the air purifier helped me get rid of the mold spores.

Yes, you don't want to store your books in too dry an atmosphere, because that will make the glue of the bindings dry out and crack. 40% humidity sounds about right.
