Flyboy320,
KOBO fixed apart from screen too faint to see, have I done something wrong? When I initially power up, screen is normal, but after a few seconds fades so page is nigh on impossible to read. Hope you can help. Many thanks for fixing my KOBO and hope you can help with the display screen brightness |

I unfortunately don't have my Kobo wi-fi version any more, so I can't help to much with the screen, but perhaps there is a brightness option in the menu?

I believe the N905 did not have an internal SD card; rather it had flash.

True, I've just opened and there's no SD inside...Any ideas how to unlock frozen screen anyway?

To davidfor
Thanks for the image unfortunately did not work. The blue light would flash several times and disappear or stay on flashing and will not boot up, the screen is frozen and shows the kobo reader is powered off press start to turn on. This will be the same if you disconnect the battery. I copied the original image to my computer, and has reinstalled original image but with same results of the screen above. Original image would boot up and show no books found before taking back off. Have tried holding down the centre button and turning it on, next attempt with holding down the menu button, all with no luck. Screen still shows kobo reader is powered off press start to turn on. Found on earlier post about kobo Wi-Fi sd image having two different CPU chips and possibly two different images. I looked at the hardware on the back of my kobo N647 Wi-Fi and found the CPU has a freescale iMX353djq5c chip. Any advice to restore my reader? Thank you. |

As to the CPU, the Kobo WiFi can have either the freescale chip and or a Marvell chip. I don't know which model uses which chip. The only other things I can think of are: Make sure the battery is charged and make sure the card was inserted completely. The latter comes from someone reporting problems after applying the image and then later reporting that they found the card hadn't been inserted properly. |

Have charged battery for more than 6 hours and inserted the card with some force to ensure it was into holder. Will try some more. |
